    Hello; I'm hoping someone here can help me solve a problem with Avast Professional.

    Earlier today, I updated my Avast Professional AV to build 4.8.1335 and immediately following the update began to get a subscription expired notification.
    My subscription is effective until April 18, so I'm completely baffled as to how and why this has happened.

    To be sure it wasn't a problem with that particular hard drive install (XP Home), I cloned a base XP Home install from a master and installed Avast Pro, then entered my serial number and the same expired subscription notification appeared as before. In both instances, I have had to use Task Manager to terminate the notification and following that, if I re-open Avast, it usually- but not always- performs normally. If I reboot, I will always get the expired subscription notification.

    I have already e-mailed Avast customer support but haven't yet received a reply, not ever acknowledgment of receipt of the e-mail and I realize that I should post in the Avast forums, but I decided to post here first as I'm not registered with the Avast forums.
    (I suppose I will be by the end of the day).

    -Anyway-
    Anyone have an idea as to what might be going on ?

    Is expiration notification displaying constantly or just once so far?

    Is your system date (on PC) correct?

    Hello RejZoR;
    Thanks for the reply.

    I get the notification roughly three out of every four times I open Avast.
    I get the notification every time I reboot.

    JimIT;
    Thanks also for your reply.
    The clock time and date are accurate.

    Why not just re-register and see if that takes care of the problem? :)

    Edit In: Another option, if you prefer, go to Add and Remove programs and select avast Change/Remove. That will give you a Repair option.

    Right. I didn't pick up on that. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Maybe try this:
    Copy your license key, if you don't have a record of it, for later use.
    Download the latest version, and also download the Uninstall Utility. Disconnect, try uninstalling, run the uninstall utility - may be advisable to do this in safe mode if there was any problem uninstalling, reboot, install the latest version, reconnect, enter your license key.
    If this doesn't work, might be best to post to the Avast forum, and/or wait for a reply from Alwil. Seems there's no rush to do this; just that you're (understandably) curious as to how this happened.

    Thanks for the replys.
    I installed Avast Pro to a totally new XP install and the problem continues.
    I'm still waiting on a response from Avast.

    Again, thanks guys !

    Hello, and my apology for the delay in responding to your question.

    The key was purchased last April from the Alwil website.

    As of this morning, no resolution of the problem. I'm definitely not buying another key, so I've replaced the professional version with Avast Home.
    No real loss using the home edition; I mostly use Firefox with No Script and always use a good third-party FW.

    Thanks.
