I have been meaning to mention my experiences with this program.
Since for quite a while I have been looking for a new firewall, I used this program to test the firewalls.

    http://www.atelierweb.com/products/firewall-tester/

Problem is every firewall that I tested failed every test and I have begun to blame myself for it.
Any thoughts on the subject? Is the tester too strict? Are all firewalls bad?
    I would appreciate your comments.
    Many thanks
Sorry, typing error in the subject but I don't know how to fix it.

Outpost 2009 ver. 6.5.1 (2725.381.0687) passed all 6 tests here on win xp.
    Not a recommendation, just saying.
    I was amazed. .

    Thanks to both of you.
    I just don't get it.
I used Outpost Pro 9.3 and it also failed.
As a matter of fact I am using it right now.

I installed it with the exe, and had to copy msvcr100.dll into the folder manually.
Every time Outpost popped a request for anything I denied it.
Here is win xp 32 bit, maybe that's the difference?
Also I always run a portable browser sandboxed, but that shouldn't have made a difference because one of the tests called up IE, but the attempted connection failed.

At least I had zero leaks using sandboxed IE and AppGuard in Locked Down mode and guarded AWTF64.

In other words, Sandboxie and AppGuard indirectly helped or contributed to block the spawned process.

I thank you for the replies.
I guess I'd better go back and try it again although I tried it several times.:(

I tried to go there but NOD32 stopped me.
I'll turn off my antivirus and try again.

First attempt was a BSOD and a reboot.
Now here is test #1 with Zone Alarm firewall.
    I probably should give up.

The other firewalls I've tested pass other tests so the heck with it.

Just tried again with the copy from the author's site and the 7z version.
Tested with IE8 running outside the sandbox, Firefox running inside it.
Still needed to copy msvcr100.dll into both folders.
    Same result, no leaks.
Might make a difference that from the start I did not allow AWFT to access IEXPLORE's memory.

I think ?? that if you did allow that, it can still be changed in Outpost"s settings.
Outpost 6.51 is still available, not sure if it will still install. The write up says it works with win 7.

Hmm opfw 9.1 on xp 32bit failed all but the default browser "test2"

I did allow awft to modify the registry proxy bypass on launch is that why i am failing all the tests bar test2 ?

login123: I did the deny memory injection as well in opfw9.1 xp and it passed all the tests.

Its the way the testing program is launched rather than what it does when its loaded up.

    Good to know.
Never used ver 9.1, but in ver 6.51 I can use settings to change whats allowed.
    Maybe same for 9.1?

Impressive... the Windows 10 Firewall fails completely.

They offer nothing as far as tweaks that would help. Also, Glasswire, Zone Alarm and Avast all fail easily. I expect they fail because the tests have been around a long time and are allowed to run as they are just tests. Tweaks being offered would make it much better. Test may be legit but, not to me. BS test in my eyes and has nothing to do with real world. And by the way, in my opinion, there never was anything as good as Outpost. And it has stopped support. Horrible but, understood. I miss it very much !
