Is there any AV now that does not pop up ads or continual prompts to upgrade. I got rid of Norton and amd using free Avast in the meantime. Free Avast is the same alway trying to sell upgrade.

I don't want a free one just one I am not spammed with

How about Windows Security, which has zero ads, very few pop-ups/notifications, and is as capable as any third-party program?

eset software is not for free ;) so you are not bothered, but pointed out to buy a license ;)
any paid antivirus software prompts to buy.

for the results, i also sticked with windows security = defender.
its settings are not blown, but there is more under the hood, maybe DefenderUI as a pimp-my-defender app has benefit for you

I'm using ESET Nod32 and so far never got a pop up or an advertisement to upgrade. Only before my license expiry I got few emails to notify me of coming expiry date.
You can also install 30 day trial (without providing credit card data) and test it before you decide whether you want to buy it.
