For those planning on updating their software, Adobe Reader will re-introduce AdobeARM.exe to MSCONFIG. This is user choice to be left at start-up.

    Hi:

Please expand on the "user choice at start up... "

What is your advice on this... hold off a few days to see what if anything is fouled up? or plunge in?

My advice is to update your software but follow the MSCONFIG recommendation.

One should be aware that the process in question is necessary for automatic updates. So, unless one wishes to manually update, then one should leave the process to automatically start with Windows.

The executable does run at start-up:
    Code:
    HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe ARM] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\AdobeARM.exe"
The question that remains is, does one want the application phoning home to Adobe at each system start-up.

As many of us frequent these forums are well aware when these products are available for update, hence the non MSCONFIG recommendation.

Right, I for one donèt want applications like adobe or MS phoning home every start up. Everybody should know why by now.

I omitted to mention when those of you go to: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Avoid all third-party offerings such as Google Toolbar, McAfee Security Scan Plus, etc. Unless you implicitly want these third-party applications.

People should really avoid them in any way even if they think they may want them. Toolbars like Google's and McAfee Security scan are nothing but useless junk made for money and marketing.
