about sophos restart

    as i know, if i add a ide to sophos's folder,and i have to restart to make the engine 'knows' the new ide. is there any method to making the engine works without restart?i mean the single xp user.
    another quetion is if i'm a corp user and update from our server and i have to restart also, if got a new ide?
