Hi @ Wilders I run a malware BAT file in the Emsisisoft command line scanner to a schedule. When I look at the logs email scanning is off (Scan mail archives: Off). I want to scan emails and archives. How do I do it? I believe the /x [ ] switch might be involved but I don't know how to set it all up. I use Gmail & Yahoo Mail. Any information gratefully received. Thanks Terry
Apparently it's the same scan options. https://www.emsisoft.com/en/help/1696/emsisoft-emergency-kit-commandline-scanner/ it says...
Hi @ zapjb As requested. This works but doesn't scan emails. Why, because the log says so. The parameters/switches which are shown in the information via members in this thread (from Emsisoft) don't explain what I need to include in this BAT file. I think it is some thing to do with /X [ ]. Can anyone help? @Echo Off if not defined RunTask set RunTask=1 & start "hidden" /min %SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe /c "%0" & goto :EOF "C:\EEK\bin64\a2cmd.exe" /malware /pup /a /n /log="C:\EEK\Logs\Malwarescan_log_%time:~0,2%h%time:~3,2%m_%date:~-7,2%_%date:~-10,2%_%date:~-4,4%.log" /quarantine="C:\EEK\Quarantine" /rebootallowed Thanks Terry
@TerryWood Do you have licence for Emsisoft or are you running a free/trial version of EEK ? If yest perhaps the free/trial version doesn't offer email scanning? Hi Stapp It's the free EEK Emergency kit version which does have a tick box for scanning emails (see attached image). It says that the formats it scans are Outlook, Thunderbird and the BAT and more. I have seen it stated that it scans local files which suggests that maybe Gmail and Yahoo and GMX don't fit into this category because it's what I use. But chasing down information is difficult with Emsisisoft. I already emailed Emsisoft and received a short reply that indicated /X [ ] was the item to be included in my BAT file but nothing definitive.. Terry
@TerryWood I believe that email tickbox may only apply to EEK itself and not the cmd line scanner. Also I think the emails may have to be stored on your machine in order to be scanned.
Hi @stapp Thanks for that. I think you are right about the emails have to be stored on my pc in which case I cannot go any further. On reflection I am sure Gmail and Yahoo scans emails anyway both out and inbound. The tick box ONLY applies to EEK but Emsisoft assured me that the /X [ ] option applied in the BAT file is usable with the command line scanner, BUT that is only viable if you know how to use the parameters and if the files are stored on the PC. So for me a dead end again. Thanks for every ones input. Terry
