Hi everyone, I am getting this new computer.

    https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-all-in-one-24-cr0055m-pc

If you have an opinion or know anything about this model, let me know. I ll be getting it in a few days, so I have been getting myself ready for it by learning as much about it as possible. I haven't found much about this specific model so most of what I read or watch in YT has been about other somewhat similar models from HP.

Perhaps someone can tell me what is available as of this moment to set up the computer without a Microsoft account. The best I found is this workaround below.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIAgn5nWt90

The issue I might encounter with that workaround is that I don't know if I ll be able to open the Command prompt when I press Shift or Shift/Fn and F10. In my W10 or W7 Command prompt does not open by pressing those keys. Also, will the Command prompt open as an Administrator Command prompt if it does open in the new HP. If someone knows about this thing, let me know. Please.

I know how to setup a Local Administrator account after setup but I would love to stay away from having to create this MS account. As I understand it, Windows 11 Pro still gives the choice to choose the Local account during setup but this computer is the Home version.

That above annoys the hell out of me. But other than that, I am glad I am getting this new computer. I think the PC, looks perfect for my case use. I love the size of the monitor. That has to be great for my old eye and what I like the most.

How about Sandboxie users, Is Sandboxie working good in W11? In Windows 10, I have no complain, is it the same in W11? Thank you all.

    Bo

A quick answer to one of your questions that I know will be important to you.
Sandboxie works just as good on Win 11 as it does on Win 10. I use Sbie+

Are you planning on doing a clean install of Win 11, if so there are many ways of doing what you ask (no microsoft account) e.g. Rufus.

Hi stapp, appreciate your reply. No, I am planning to install it as it comes. That is why I like to know if there is a sure way to stay away from having to create the MS Account doing setup this way. Figures about SBIE all being well in W11, but I had to ask. Thanks.

One thing I like to know, maybe you know. I want to install W11 in English, so during setup, when the screen about the country where you are or location comes up, can I choose United States? If I choose my country, does W11 gets installed in English or Spanish? The computer was purchased in the US.

I recently set up a new HP, another model, with a local account. Command prompt appeared with Shift + F10 at first screen [language]. Then

    start ms-cxh:localonly

I install Windows with the ethernet cable disconnected and select No internet in the setup. It gives you a Local account.

Disconnecting the Ethernet cable doesn't do the trick anymore afaik.
As @Robin A. well suggested, the only current solution is:
    Shift + F10
    start ms-cxh:localonly

Thanks, I ll try that. I tested in my HP W7, and the Command prompt did not open but maybe it does open in W11. :)

I believe in the Home version that doesn't work but I will try it also. Thank you.

According to what I have read, that is so.

I have a question for you. You probably know the answer. The computer was purchased in the States, and I want to install W11 in English. Can I choose United states and English when setup ask me the questions related to country and/or Language?

I couldn't help myself. I had a Win11 Home UFD made by Rufus. It booted...

During the install I clicked "I don't have internet" and the install continued. I'm now looking at the Win11 desktop. No Command Line entry was used.

These were the Rufus settings. It is a computer with a 12th generation CPU. No Win11 hardware issues.

Read what Brian wrote above about Rufus, BUT the computer already comes shipped with Windows 11 EN, then you don't need to prepare a UFD using Rufus. So stick to CMD prompt thing.
Yes you can choose those. In fact, you can choose any region and keyboard layout you want.

I think bo elam plans to install Win 11 personally.

By the way, I wasn't asked to answer any questions once the actual install process had started. None. It was a fast install. You don't have to create a password until the first reboot after the install has completed.

Hi Brian. Does that means you were able to install Home without a MS account?. OK, so if I don't plug the Ethernet cable, can setup still pick up WiFi as available? If it does, setup would still try to force me to create the MS account, no? If I try doing setup without internet, after a while, if setup doesn't give up and I have to give up, would plugging the Ethernet cable allow me to continue with setup (and of course, install the MS account).

I have another question that perhaps one of you guys can help me with. I bought a UPS with the battery to protect the computer when electricity goes. Here it happens often. Energy goes for seconds and comes back. Last time I used a UPS was with an XP Desktop around 2013. So, I don't remember much how to use UPS. This one has a On and Off button, the one I used with XP also had one button like that but I don't remember if I should turn the UPS to Off when I turn off the computer. I usually turn On the computer in the morning and turn it off every night before going to sleep.

    Bo,

Easy. But you have to make the UFD with the Rufus settings described above. The Microsoft installation doesn't automatically pick up your WiFi. So no issue there. Even if the installation recognized your WiFi it still needs a password to connect. No password, no internet.

The posts above describe an installation with the internet cable connected and "start ms-cxh:localonly" being used. That's ok. Take your pick of methods. You won't get a Microsoft account. I find not having the cable connected is easier. Connect the cable after you see the Win11 desktop. Then restart and do Windows updates, etc.

Let's assume the worst happens and somehow you get a Microsoft account. Which you won't. Simply delete the new Windows partitions and start again.

Edit. I recalled my ISO was downloaded from DUMP. Your ISO could behave differently and you might have to use "start ms-cxh:localonly". That's not a problem.

When I looked for the HP model Bo mentions above, I found it comes with a preinstalled Windows 11 Home, in English. So I don't understand why he would want to install Windows from scratch using a UFD.

Hi guys. I have the computer here now. I already did first boot, it has already asked me to name the device, I did name it and the PC is doing updates. Perhaps its not gonna ask me/tell me to create the MS account. I ll be back. :D

Hi Rasheed. Yes, it is nice. I think I bought a good deal. If you are looking for a new computer, I certainly recommend this model. Right now it has a nice price, I been tracking the page of the computer and the price changes almost daily. Since I bought it, they had it from about $550.00 to$1050.00. I bought it for $650.00. It handles Windows 11 very easy. Very soft. I am impressed.

Regarding the 24" Inch screen, I love it. It is probably the one thing that got me to go for it.
