There ARE instances where it is NECCESSARY to STOP the updates gears running nonstop for example when a user needs to clear out the Software Distribution Folder where Gb's of MS update files stack up and just waste space. Fortunately THAT REMEDY is accessible. Like lots of other MS mechanical functions you have to deviate from what should be a simple way to access the OFF procedure in order to lessen the workflow interruption.
I have never liked the concept of ''auto updates'' at all. New app versions (or OS updates) can introduce serious bugs that can affect stability, security and productivity. Don't forget that the CrowdStrike disaster was also caused by an autoupdate. And it's sickening that Chromium based browsers always auto-update extensions (huge security risk) and you can't even turn this feature off! But anyway, I'm not planning on using the Microsoft Store anytime soon.
I've researched that a bit after seeing in WizTree just how much space that folder is using but most of what I have read suggests that it is not safe to clean it up. If you have found a solution please share.
