W10FC got stuck end of 2021 https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vistafirewallcontrol/the-latest-betas-releases-t6.html it is installed for win10 on two machines, on two machines with win11 it is not, there is no need to, the defender firewall is tough enough. maybe less income for reason to develop it further, anyhow it works on a current win10, it should work on current win 11. at least there exist better stand alone solutions.
Most current version is 8.4.0.84. I believe Sphinx is alive and well. When people post questions on the forum the posts are answered quickly. It will be updated when some posts indicate the need for updates. Most firewalls don't need any updating unless they contain stuff like ad blockers, content monitoring, HIPS ... They are renewing the official website https://sphinx-soft.com/ but at the moment it isn't very helpful as it lacks all infos, including the comparison between Plus and Server versions, except "Windows11FirewallControl/v9 is released. Registration is not required. Online registration of previous versions/editions ends in Aug 2025. Please perform free update to Windows11FirewallControl/v9". They released a precompiled Version 9, Plus and Server versions only (they were paid lifetime licenses in version 8 ), English and German languages only, with the new name Windows11 Firewall Control https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vistafirewallcontrol/the-latest-betas-releases-t6.html (it seems that version 8 isn't more available for download) but it isn't clear how to update from Plus version 8 to Plus version 9 so I prefer to wait for further infos and also for a official release here https://github.com/Windows11FirewallControl/Windows11FirewallControl/tree/main I wouldn't want the Plus version 9 to be officially released as a paid subscription like most software nowadays. I followed the instructions and the update process from Plus version 8 to Plus version 9 went smooth and all settings were preserved. Furthermore before doing the update I downloaded again the file Windows11FirewallControlPlus-Setup.zip and Microsoft Defender didn't detect it as malware anymore.
Online registrations end for v8. so it will mean that v9 is totally free of charge? however, i stopped using W10FC 2 or 3 years ago because it broke my local networking.
Hello, at the moment there isn't a free version like the Basic version that was available in version 8 if I remember correctly. I could be wrong but I think that this precompiled release is a free update for customers that purchased Windows 10 Firewall Control 8 (Plus or Server versions). I presume that when Windows 11 Firewall Control version 9 will be officially released the Sphinx Soft website will be updated so they can also sell the latest version to new customers. Maybe i could be proven wrong but i don't think that Windows 11 Firewall Control version 9 will be officially released free of charge except, maybe, for a Basic version. I bought a license years ago when I was using Windows 7. I found it to be one of the better firewalls for Windows at the time, but for for a few reasons, one of them being a lack of continued development, I moved on from it. I found two downloads, different sizes for Windows 10 FirewallControl. I don't suppose it can be purchased anymore for a lifetime license, mentioned in post #14 above. P.S. Not interested in version for Windows 11
Yep, I think that Sphinx Software will sell only Windows 11 Firewall Control version 9 but at the moment the official website https://sphinx-soft.com/ lacks all infos (features, prices, comparison between Plus and Server version, screenshot etc.)
They are the setup files for the free (Basic) version. Many years ago I installed it but it lacked many features so I purchased a license for the Plus version. The files have different names and sizes but they are the same thing. Maybe the reason of the different sizes is a different level of file compression.

Currently It's not possible purchase licenses for the new version. I think that the official website will be updated when the developers will be ready for an official release. As you can see on this webpage https://github.com/Windows11FirewallControl/Windows11FirewallControl on the right is written "No releases published". Anyway there you can find a list of features of this firewall that in my opinion is very good and very configurable, probably a bit underrated.
