Maybe I'm reading it wrong but am I correct that a 1 year plus personal license will set me back around 100 US dollars and a lifetime plus license for just short of 1400 US dollars? I hope I'm mistaken.
Well depen on your needs you can stick with home 30€ or buisness for 80€ However if you wanna also encrypt your sandbox its cost extra 30€ So yea better buy dev lic for 100€ Lifetime 1k€ ouch yea its rly cost that much... if you hope soft will survive longer than 10years after that time will be refund back with each next year Here is comparsion chart https://sandboxie-plus.com/feature-comparison/
The Sandboxie-Plus Personal license is about $90, and you can use Sandboxie forever. The license does not expire, but you'll only get new features for one years after purchase. See here. That's the license I ended up going with. I'm not really sure where you're getting your numbers from. Are you talking about personal licenses?
I understand where the prices are, and what they are. As I said, I bought the Plus Personal license. That's why I'm confused as to where you got your numbers from. They don't match the listed prices at all. Lifetime is not $1000. Personal Plus, which does not expire, is $90.
Imo for that price better go VMware and get full virtualization.. We have now 2025y not 2000year so you can easy deal with full OS and run there safely 3rd software... Which will be more friendly for hard installations with snap time feature.
Eternal license is almost 1400 US dollars, that is Eternal never expires and lifetime updates and upgrades vs 1 year of updates and upgrades.
I guess the question, then, becomes why do you feel the need for lifetime updates. It's not like it's something that's signature-based. How much further do you think the boundaries of Sandboxie Plus can be pushed? How much can it improve? And, is that worth paying $1400 for versus $80 for a perpetual license and only one year of updates? I trust @DavidXanatos to not have too many bugs that would warrant a lifetime updates license in order to be fixed.
I was just questioning the pricing, obviosity the benefits would be added features in future builds. At least that was my thought. 80 + the VAT which is another 10 bucks for the lic you have or so that's my understanding.
If you think so, then you are mistaken: Sandboxie does not work for it self it works with (or within) all the various applications which it runs, and those applications are changing all the time, using new previously not existing windows features, etc.... And windows is also changing all the time. Or as the support page says nicely: "Keeping Sandboxie up to date with the rolling releases of Windows and compatible with all web browsers is a never-ending endeavor." To make a point: I spend substantially more time on fixing compatibility issues then on developing new features. Adding a new feature is a welcome distraction in the rare moments between someone (MS, Mozilla, etc) breaking something again, and again and again... Just recently Firefox 136+ broke compatibility and cant run in any sandboxie version 1.14.8 or earlier on modern windows. If you never update your windows and never update your applications then you are fine without Sandboxie updates. But if you update eider than you need to update Sandboxie from time to time. And think about how little 1000€ might be worth in 10 years, you not only gamble on if there will still be a locally running windows that can work with Sandboxie in 10 years you are also gambling on how much will Sandboxie updates cost in 5 years, in 10 years, in 15 years, etc... Also that 1000€ is $1135 as of today, not $1400 although depending on the economical changes it may soon be even more, one more reason to buy a Eternal certificate while it is still affordable
I'm not going to argue about the current exchange rate, just saying that's a lot for a personal lic. seems to me a more affordable license pricing all around would increase sales ,hence more cash flow. No worrys, I was not mistaken, just confirming.
