I would say accurate, and not surprising to those of us here. Privacy is gone. The only fix is to somehow remove value from having private data; then, it wouldn't matter.

Privacy died with the internet. It's why they created it.

Exactly right. It's a control grid.

You can't be serious. Facial recognition cameras in public spaces. ~ Removed Off Topic Remarks ~

That's just a couple of f'rinstances. All we can do now is attempt to control access to the data that really matters to each of us as individuals.

    Can't be more serious.
If you got something to hide O well .
If you have nothing , no problems.
Use to feel like you, but in these times?

At least you recognize that something is wrong.

Agreed! It's naive to think we can avoid surveillance. We can't even be certain we know all the ways that we are being surveilled.

Too late. Any data you were concerned about has already been breached and probably ransomed.

The implication that wanting privacy implies "having something to hide" is BS. That's the rationale people who can't mind their own business use for violating the privacy of others. Not having anything to hide is no guarantee of protection from such people either.

I agree that whether or not you have something to hide is nobody's business. The problem either way is what would anyone be able to do to stop it?

Ransom? From me? Now there's a joke.

Agreed. I suspect we've already gone too far, though, in conceding personal privacy to the powers-that-be in name of pseudo-security. We'll never get it back: all we can do is plug our thumbs in the cracks and delay the inevitable. Big Brother is indeed watching.

You know it's a new world now, no privacy. Don't cry just get use to it.

So, we're supposed to just let them roll over us? Just give in? You've as much as admitted that you know it's wrong, but you refuse to fight against it?

THAT is how we got to this point.

No, not from you. From AT&T or some other irresponsible company that has your info.

I agree with your thoughts but what is anyone going to do about it? It is beyond your control or mine or anyone else's here.

I could say something like "let's elect a different class of jerk to political office", but it's true - power corrupts. I may have to get used to the idea of there being no real privacy anymore, but I don't know that I can accept it silently. It's never been in me to allow things to be taken from me without some sort of protest and, as for thinking that it's beyond my control or yours or anyone else's, that's because we are individuals, and the herd is simply believing what they're told by those in power. If enough people understood what has been taken from them, and were willing to do something about it...? Perhaps then something could still be done.

Probably not, though. Big Brother is too well-entrenched.
