One Tech Tip: Don’t give your email to strangers, use a decoy address instead

    Been doing this for years. If you want it hassle free use one that forwards to your real email and then you get notified there instead of having to check for stuff. Once you are finished with the "burner email -- the term used in this thread" then click delete and its blown away never to be heard from again. e.g. - duckduckgo does a good job with this.

    ps - it should go without saying that this is a privacy setup. If you need true security you would never want a burner email to forward to one of your "real name" email accounts. Duhhhhh!!

    Spam filters are great in this era. I hardly get any spam, even when I use a primary email. Still I forward emails from one to another like: GMX (forums, random webpages) > Gmail (services requiring my real name) > Outlook (official)

    I always wanted to use such a service, but it looked a bit of a hassle, or perhaps I was just too lazy. I will check out DDG, thanks for the feedback. :thumb:
