    That would be a shame. C and C++ are very versatile languages. And while it is true that they lack built-in out-of-memory safety checks, a competent programmer can overcome that by writing a memory-safe code.

    Solution to this issue is not to retire good programming languages, but to hire competent programmers, instead of hiring programmers to tick HR mandated check boxes.

    Agreed. Also, C/C++ are more likely to have open source compilers/interpreters while some of the "acceptable" options will be controlled by the likes of Microsoft and Oracle and such.
