May be @ParadigmShift but i don't do keyboard shortcuts- It's too antique for what by now should be a modern innovation. I left that after Windows 98. But thank you nonetheless.

Press Windows Button, In the search box PASTE won't work, (more antique usage) you must type, Performance then Performance Settings are on the top upper left, click that to reach Performance Option. Unchecked Animate Windows when Max & Minimizing, No change with Notepad :thumbd:

Windows 11 is a new and unique approach. BACKWARDS - Sigh

Only Microsoft can make notepad that lags. I'm impressed in a weird way. Function > form

Correct. CTRL + V works but as you stated previously, you are not interested in keyboard shortcuts. Just as an FYI there is a Paste option in Start11. Haven't tried any other Start Menu replacements.

    Spending time in Eleven Forums.
Have got the snappier 10 notepad back but working way through the MS Store to disable app updates so it can work system wide. Geez

I been using StartAllBack for years in Windows 11 and haven't experienced any problems. They offer a full function 30 day free trial, and it's then $4.99 for a lifetime license.

StartAllBack sure can't fix Notepad the way that they crammed it with menus and the slow lagging of it.
They just can't ever leave well enough alone can they. At a minimum the user should have an Option to turn off the eye candy.

Menus? I don't see any menus on mine. See the pic. Are you sure you are not using Notepad++.

i did not get yet 24H2 for my machines. but startallback is working for 23H2.
for notepad, sure? i would prefer the mentioned notepad++ (npp)
as i read elsewhere windows notepad seems to be awful with buttons and more. nevertheless its a basic editor, not more.
i use notepad++ (npp) and in addition for simple replcement:
    https://www.binaryfortress.com/NotepadReplacer/
working like charm, also for beginners. no reghacks, no screwing file extensions - the replacer does it for you.

Sad, sad state of Windows 11 - September 2024 problems

The joys of Friday: 'tis a jolly article and mega-rant highlighting the numerous problems and issues with Windows 11 and the latest set of updates, including slow and ultimately failed Windows Update, difficulty obtaining and installing update packages manually, visual inconsistencies and bad ergonomics with modern apps, system menu annoyances, sluggish performance and responsiveness in Windows Explorer, awful storage management in Settings, outdated and inapplicable information about BitLocker, unwanted notifications, tons of sadness, and more. Take a look, if you must.

Yes, one would expect windows update to work flawlessly after decades, but no, they still break windows and even result in BSOD. And explorer, I have just got a new PC and with Defender enabled, explorer is as slow as on XP.
I still can not believe that 11 got away with round edges so easily, when we use flat screen! When I use snap windows to edges, they are fine, but after the app is restarted, it just looks horrendous. I guess, outsourcing at it's finest.

After the September update I also experienced this, especially when opening context menus. After another system restart it was o.k.

Disabling transparency, shadows and effects overall solved this for me. It is sad that 2024 CPU with NPU can not handle simple effects. :thumbd:

@Mrkvonic Harkens back to those years where desperate user's needing assistance were almost always met with the same old adage which seems might be making a comeback again. That is, "try reinstalling Windows" pppffffttttt - And we're now well nearly a quarter of the way into the 21st Century. Really speaks volumes for a supposed seasoned O/S innovator MFG right? :argh: But as you say it's in reality actually Sad.

As far as all the AI hype, that is been around since XP In those days you was able to have a webcam with a motion detector program utilize a bot program to actually interact and speak (pre programmed sentences and in some instances, it made best logic choices for conversation). Then as fast as it was beginning to become noticed and used those software companies and accompanying websites went down. Hmmmm

Co-Pilot my backside. Like Cortuna all over again. MS is been consistent in one major aspect, and that is either copying others (Think BING). or repackaging renaming OLD Tech but give it some hype for market purposes. Then there was their jumping onto the cellular phone craze.

One would think we would by now have had near flawless awesome Windows systems if not for MS callous adventures into misadventures. Bringing nothing innovative or exciting to the O/S that they started a framework with.

Still though, so-called AI is been around decades. Nothing innovative or all that groundbreaking as they would have the masses believe. Master's of deception.

Right? I've been saying that for a long time. It's been almost 30 years since Windows 95. Nothing works any better or more reliably and with 1,000 times the processing power of the PCs of that day, nothing is any faster, if not slower.

Last week I bought a small item in a shop for cash. I was given my change along with a receipt.
I noticed on the receipt that the amount charged was a pound too much, the scanner had got it wrong.

I pointed it out and asked for the overpayment. 15 minutes later I finally got it as it took that long for them to work out how to do it.
The till was so shiny high tech they had to go through loads of options and buttons many times.

How I longed for the days when they just opened the till and gave you the overpay !!
Progress is in the eye of the beholder.

I especially "enjoy", when people say, buy a new PC! What I am supposed to buy, a supercomputer for 10 million? If you need i9 to open Calc in 1 sec instead of 5 secs, while it took 386 on 95 to open in 1 sec, something is just wrong.

Unfortunately the i9 I bought doesn't seem any faster than an i7, it still takes 5 seconds. It sure did cost more. Buyers remorse.

Well I got it down to 1 sec and all it took was to disable all the nonsense that MS put in to "improve" 11. It might not look fancy, but it works, that is all I asked it for. Sadly MS did not deliver, though I even bought MS 365.
