I am also indirectly affected. My work collegues directly. I also can't work, even though I installed internal linux distribution since last month, because most intranet sites are down or throwing randomly exceptions and errors. Looks like a great time to take long overdue upskilling courses :)

Crowdstrike issued a patch earlier, which is seemingly causing disruption for corporations/businesses worldwide.

No issue for me with my personal laptop.

Most Doctors surgeries in UK are unable to access patient records and book appointments, and Pharmacies are struggling to process prescriptions.
    It just a big mess.

Not only Crowdstrike employee. A lot of other businesses showed lack of or poor bussiness continuity plan implementation today

Undoubtedly. Happens every day but nobody gets caught until something happens.

Indeed, it is hard to automate anything on a computer that does not boot :D
The another problem is that CrowdStrike is mostly used in enterprises, and enterprises do encrypt hard drives. It means you can not just boot into safe mode, you must have master Bitlocker key first.

Another sad but classic example that corp. IT worldwide isn't doing their job by not testing updates prior to installation on the corp. network.

Southwest Airlines is unaffected as they still have a mix of Win 3.1 and Win95 as the base (true).

In 2010 McAfee caused a global IT meltdown due to a faulty upgrade.
The CTO at the time was George Kurtz. He is currently the CEO of Crowdstrike. o_O

Regarding testing it is worth to expand on it more. It is worth to hear this video Software's HUGE Impact On The World | Crowdstrike Global IT Outage
    https://youtu.be/MwjQVAwIATE?si=BpbGYkwjcEF2FuC4
    on Continuous Delivery channel.
Of course there is more to software enginering testing practices than it was inclused in this quickly produced content, yet worth to listen to anyway
