My prediction is that if Chrome/Chromium won't allow it, then Edge will surely follow.
Vivalid? I guess it depends on how resource hungry would be to maintain out-of-tree code to reenable it

as visible for firefox forks it seems simple - for firefox. but for edge? keeping code for mv2 is not hard, maintaining even more. and you need a store - and thats announced here - chrome extensions store will phase out mv2 extensions in shorter future, they dont allow new mv2 extension for 5 months now. as i wrote the problem wont be the usage, more the getting.

I noticed that adGuard AdBlocker extension v. 4.3.53 is always MV2.

"new" is the key, not "updates"

Yes correct, I totally forgot they sometimes disable/remove extensions that are flagged as malware. So Vivaldi should give us a way to continue to use MV2 extensions, perhaps they should open its own extension-store like Opera did in the past.

Chrome 127 stable will be released on July 23.

Before this date I would like to advise all Wilders members to check for MV2 extensions installed in their Chromium-based browsers.
That they should (if they want to survive) shortly upgrade to MV3.

thats why backups are also important. when using chromium i also used extracted extensions because no longer in store or not available, but usable. pity those are not synced.

I would be interested to know if forum members using Linux/Apple have entered the "ExtensionManifestV2Availability" policy? :)

I have not set the ExtensionManifestV2Availability policy, as I don't use any Chromium browser, nor do I have any intention of using a Chromium browser in the near future.

Exercise caution when using distribution-provided versions of Chromium. Many distributions, like Debian, do not build them with security mitigations enabled.

    Code:
    sudo mkdir -p /etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed /etc/opt/chromium/policies/managed
    echo '{ "ExtensionManifestV2Availability": 2 }' | sudo tee /etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed/policy.json /etc/opt/chromium/policies/managed/policy.json
Currently playing with vivaldi (built-in ads/trackers Off) on my debian, Ubo + nextdns (router), no issue so far!!!

If google or ms will let it reside in store? why not? but if not, uBo mv2 will stay outdated maybe disabled.

I guess Adguard might be an alternative. If that fails, change browsers.

It has been working fine so far. Free or paid what? Free YouTube, paid AdGuard.

I have no complaints or issues with paid AdGuard and do not miss uBO in the least. Plus it seems to be less likely to be detected on some sites. It's been a while since I have seen a "You're using an ad blocker...".
