    Hi all,

Just read on malwarebytes forums regarding people using UBO and Malwarebytes Browser Guard simultaneously.

Any thoughts on whether you guys think this could be worthwhile or whether to avoid?

    Thanks :)

I can't see any added value in using uBO and MWB Browser Guard. IMO, uBO is all you need. Less is more, so to speak.

Of course they're going to recommend using their product. Did you expect them to not? I'd avoid that, or anything malwarebytes for that matter.

I use them both, Malwarebytes for malware and UBO for ads, just turn off ad blocking in MWB, no use having 2 things trying to do the same thing.

My point being, no one should act surprised that they do.

    Hello @n13:

Several times per day, I purposely make my browsers go in harm's way.

Of course, I'm very biased about this, but yes, I have installed Malwarebytes Browser Guard (MBG) and uBlock Origin (uBO) extensions in all the browsers I require. I leave MBG in its default installed state. I also install uBO on all the same browsers, and it's uBO where I do the most customizations. My computer's default browser is Firefox, where I can experiment with various extensions and tweak the associated user.js file.

I used MBG (just the extension) with uBo for quite a long time but Opera had a hard time. It often froze and ended up crashing. I uninstalled MBG first and it was better. However, replacing uBo with Adguard gave Opera a better life. No freezing since then.

    Hello @pegas

You may wish to try MBG again with v. 2.6.24. I haven't seen any reported issues with Opera recently. So if you do, the Product Director and devs would be happy to work with you.

I apologize if this post is too far OT.

OK, thx for the heads up. I will give it a try. I'm curious to learn how it will work along with AG.

MBAM extension is awfull, and bad. stick with uBo.
for the final question which has already been answered - one blocker only!
there exist no setting in any browser which blocker runs first, so the first has always impact to functions of next. in case of ublock this will break a lot of uBo rules, gorhill has stated this ages ago. ublock more than less will remain useless or buggy working.
if you have MBAM installed and working as pro - thats also worse, its not that good as defender. uninstall.

I just tried the new MBAM extension along with AG and the CPU increased immediately and the web pages loaded remarkably slower. Uninstalled. I'm sticking with AG only.

Please elaborate more why you came to this conclusion.

it is fixed, high compressed source, encrypted lists, it has too many false-positives, support sucks a lot, and not that good as ublock, pretty simple, aint it? ublock is nothing of this.

further - ublock origin is 9 times smaller by default. and got more updates while browser guard stopped in dec'23 - mbam is working with mozilla to get the next build released. for 4 month now? i have doubt the new code is proper and when i look at the release history i dont see any timeout like now.

    for the background knowledge:
in fact malwarebytes ist only another locust and harvesting, there exist no difference to avast where harvested AVG, piriform, where AVG harvested tuneup, and norton got them all.

malwarebytes is using official lists, only grabbing other peoples work. they bought a very famous and reliable blocking list and destroyed its image. for me that was a red line, finished with them.

feel free to use it, but dont expect too much.

    Just a few comments.
Been using it for awhile with no false positives.
Support is excellent on their forum, few sites have better.
I don't compare it to UBO, as I use it more for blocking of malware and scam sites not ads.
Last update was March 21, 2024.
I thought common knowledge was the Malwarebytes was very privacy conscious and does not harvest data, where is your evidence?
What is this list you say they bought? Not saying your wrong but would like to see proof of some of your statements.
    Thanks.

I use and have used both UBO and uMatrix for quite some time in Firefox and I don't seem to have any conflicts using both.

if you do not use any list (this means NOT: rules) in uMatrix then all is fine. its still installed here and used, but only really effective when uBo is off, it has its own blocklist (which is same as in uBo), but for some reason i have to whitelist some pages but block ads for some reason. anyhow uMatrix is outdated and out of support and thus could change experience.

Using Malwarebytes Browser Guard and uBlock Origin together several years now with Firefox. I've not seen any conflicts between them, both do their job quietly. No malware, no ads, no FPs yet that i know of. Browsing is nearly instantaneous for me, they update easily and have good forum support if needed.

you probably not seen it, but they are present for you. Stupid antimalware extensions, in common, disable this BS.
