    this setting to "true" is also tied to the noop option in matrix, accessing "noop" in the matrix while options is "false" need double tap of "ctrl" button on keyboard.

    Code:
    I will add a new advanced setting, trustedListPrefixes. Possible space-separated values:

        ublock-: trust only uBO lists, exclude everything else, including My filters (default value)
        ublock- user-: trust uBO lists and My filters
        -: trust no list, essentially disabling all filters requiring trust (sysadmins or people who don't trust us may want this)

    anyhow his examples makes it not clear how to deal with other lists, or imported lists. what with lists when not trusted? are they ignored?

    PS the "-" says trust no list, so why using ublock? this is really a bit annoying.

    Thanks guys (bjm_ and Stupendous Man) :). 1.53.0 came in "stealth mode" later today--didn't need to do anything. Which is good--getting lazy nowadays. All good now in Firefox release version 119.0

    I would leave it as is. A user could be deceived into copying a malicious (or poorly written) rule into "My Filters," but leaving it untrusted would reduce the potential harm of bad scriptlets. (The block list I maintain doesn't need "trust," as it doesn't use scriptlets or exotic rules.)

    If I'm understanding gorhill comments correctly the next release candidate
    will have a warning text just above the "Apply Changes" button in "My filters"
    that reads as follows:

    Do not add filters from untrusted sources.

    Don't know if that has since changed as it was 2 weeks ago.

    So in 'trustedListPrefixes' e.g.:
    Code:
    ublock- user- DEU-0 adguard- easylist- https://filters.adtidy.org/extension/ublock/filters/6.txt
    No, only "untrusted" filters are not working in that case. They can be abused by bad actors.
    See here:
    E.g. they will be marked like this in "nl: EasyDutch":

    Screenshot.

    That text is in "My filters" since uBlock Origin version 1.53.0 on Firefox.

    i have left the beta builds behind, its a permanent hunt with updates and fixes, no time for such nonsense.
    for me i use the extracted build.

    concerning grey vs green - in firefox the clock is grey, in edge its green.
    its set in
    for edge its
    TBC, need investigation.

    edit: the css is not proper for firefox, 3p-filters dont need the ">", and this also works in edge. a long tradition for ublock with some wrong css.

    to
    and similar.

    I get them from here and use them in Firefox/Floorp - Always. No issues and no hassles ever.

    floorp is another firefox fork, and uBo in most cases is signed on github, but not for chrome (he's talking for chrome) - which makes no sense for a github file, you cant install it anyway. uBo only as an extraced extension in dev mode.

    I haven't used Chrome in ages, one reason being uBO works best in Firefox, but it surprises me the files aren't signed for Chrome, especially since Firefox puts extensions through a more rigorous vetting process. That said, final releases from this repository aren't usually signed right away for Firefox, only the beta releases.

    if the file contains "signed", then its signed. the beta builds are signed much faster because they dont appear on AMO, they are built for own distribution and dont need further investigation as the official builds have. guess how i get my altered extensions got signed?
    for the beta builds, i think he is keeping only the latest beta builds, so you wont find older beta builds there.

    conclusion: sometimes AMO is faster, sometimes chrome store, who cares?

    I can only say that since 1.53.0, after forcing an update for a filter list, or forcing updates for all filter lists, the clock icon is green for some time, before it turns gray, I don't know for how long exactly. This is new behavior in 1.53.0, on Firefox.

    Gorhill always mentions that UBO works better in Firefox.
    For me,this gap,is considerably less if not absent.

    • CNAME - Uncloaking
    Gap canceled with new AdGuard filter lists:

    https://github.com/AdguardTeam/cname-trackers/tree/master/data

    • HTML filtering
    It doesn't seem to me to be a feature that works with 100% reliability in Firefox as one would expect:

    https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/2833

    https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/2931

    • Browser launch
    Advantage nullified almost completely

    Do the remaining 3 features have enough added value to justify abandoning the use of a chromium-based browser because of an extension?

    My clock stays green, no changes yet. Is it because there's no update to apply yet? I do notice I'm not using all the Quick Fixes. I'm sure some are eliminated due to being obsolete but how many and if so, why aren't they just dropped from the count? I'll have to check out the GitHub area for additional explanations.

    On Firefox, with uBlock Origin 1.53.0, an hour after force updating uBlock filters Quick fixes, I see the clock is no longer green but gray again.

    I see the same: uBlock filters Quick fixes: 186 used out of 231.

    Like I said, only "one reason" why I use Firefox ;)

    As for the clocks, mine did all eventually turn gray some time after filter updates, using beta 1.53.1b4 . I just don't know how long it was.

    OK, just purged/updated. Now every list that's activated has a green clock next to it. Also, the Quick Fixes dropped to 131/132. Very dynamic of it.:) The uBO team is on it! :thumb:

    For those of you who are not using Dynamic Filtering here are some filters which are believed to completely block that pest called Facebook:

    Code:
    ! https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Static-filter-syntax#entity
    ! https://gist.github.com/imcodingideas/f07be3889411b323e5f8051899b9d9cc
    ! https://gist.github.com/illvart/36cc34e024904c78c11fcf32256e8f8a
    ! https://cleanbrowsing.org/2021/10/how-to-block-facebook/
    ||facebook.*^$all,important
    ||facebook.*.edgekey.net^$all,important
    ||facebook.*.edgesuite.net^$all,important
    ||facebook-web-clients.appspot.com^$all,important
    ||fb.*^$all,important
    ||fbcdn.*^$all,important
    ||fbcdn-*.akamaihd.net^$all,important
    ||fbsbx.*^$all,important
    ||fbsbx.*.online-metrix.net^$all,important
    ||instagram.*^$all,important
    ||instagramstatic-*.akamaihd.net^$all,important
    ||instagramstatic-*.akamaihd.net.edgesuite.net^$all,important
    ||cdninstagram.*^$all,important
    ||tfbnw.*^$all,important
    ||whatsapp.*^$all,important
    Those 15 filters cover all entries in the hosts files added above. The filters make use of extended static filtering applied to entities mentioned in the first link. This reduces the number of necessary filters considerably.

    I do not see that warning text in "My filters" with uBO 1.53.0 and using Firefox.
    Do you have screenshot you could post?

    Unable to produce the uBO "My filters" warning text in Firefox.
    Even created a new profile in Firefox and got same result.

    Did you change any value(s) in uBO 1.53.0 advanced settings or
    make any other changes from the default settings in uBO?

    Anyone else see this text in "My filters" - "Do not add filters from untrusted sources"
    in uBO 1.53.0 using Firefox or is it just me?
