I thought I already admitted in another post that it's probably a problem on my side. But what is relevant to this topic is that I believe those DDG guys are idiots for not providing a .exe file, which is the normal way of doing things. And I'm not into the MS Store at all, even if it did work, I still wouldn't be using it.

I wonder on what this claim of ''being the most secure browser'' is based? And do they mean mobile or desktop browser?

I still think these guys are idiots for not offering a .exe file for the DDG desktop browser on Windows. And you can't even contact them by email or chat. It's also still not clear which browser engine they are using, perhaps they want to hide the fact that they are probably just another Chromium clone?

I don't know about that. But to clarify, I was only talking about DDG on Windows. Because on macOS, it's using Apple's WebKit, which is also used by Safari. But MS is apparently planning to launch WebView2 on macOS and Linux, see link. So perhaps DDG will use this in the future on those platforms.

I forgot that uBlock didn't work on Safari. Aren't there any alternatives for uBlock?

Seems to be quite interesting, especially the part about zero telemetry.

its called "Orion Browser from Kagi"
"native is a relative word, means for me: close to nothing.

afair its based on "Safari tech base" which means not chromium or gecko.
safari and google parted away decades ago. there is nothing in common now.

I loooked it up and seems that AdBlock Plus does work on Safari. It's of course not nearly as good as uBlock, but it's not that bad.

BTW, the part about support of Chrome and Firefox extensions (Web Extensions API) is also quite impressive.

DuckDuckGo browser - Capable, noisy, and not strict enough

Exploring the stupidity-free Internet. To that end, we have a r eview of the DuckDuckGo mobile browser for Android, including setup, first-run tour, configurations and settings, features like App Tracking Protection, Pop Up Banner Protection, and Fire Button, performance, workflow, look and feel, effectiveness in blocking trackers and ads, various annoyances and issues, and more. Perhaps this could be the formula you need to make your smartphone usage more bearable. Take a look.

Too bad, I had hoped the review was about the DDG desktop browser. Perhaps next time?

You know what, never mind. Yesterday I saw a YouTube video of the DDG desktop browser, and it's ridiculously bare bones, why did it take them about a year to develop this? Perhaps the hardest part was to remove all of the spyware from the WebView2 engine? It barely has any useful features, definitely not for me.

You're wrong, DDG itself has said they had to remove all of the spyware stuff from WebView2. But this seems to be the only thing that they have done in a year, because feature wise, DDG is a joke, not comparable with Brave and Vivaldi. Perhaps they should have simply went for Chromium.

Does anyone know how this exactly works? So they generate a code on your laptop, and this code can then sync your passwords and bookmarks to other devices with this code? Wait a minute, it sounds a lot like how passkeys are being synced across all your devices. But sadly enough, the DDG desktop browser does not run on Win 10 1909, very weird since I do have WebView2 installed.

    DuckDuckGo App Tracking Protection review

The modern Web sucks. Maybe we can make it suck less. I've smithed a review of DuckDuckGo App Tracking Protection, a privacy-focused feature built into the DuckDuckGo Browser, including VPN-like behavior, inclusion and exclusion lists, effectiveness, battery life impact, overall usage considerations, and more. Take a look.

where to get the ATP apk for android? in store there is only the ddg browser.
from your first view it seems easier to set up than adguard premium, but i miss detailed settings about blocking lists/features.
some user had issues with the qwant extension which included a tracking blocker - DDG has similar browser extension.
looks like a set and forget, more specific with on/off switches. depends.

I have the same question. However I believe that the ATP is part of the browser. Maybe he could point us in the right direction?
