It's supposed to show once, did you close it ? It's a major version news notice, not a commercial one.

I just got a notification that an update was available from Macrium Reflect Free 8.0.7690 to 8.0.7690. The two versions are the same.

    Hi Bill H:

Just an FYI that I'm not seeing this on my 64-bit Win 10 machine.

I have the latest Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7690 (rel. 11-Oct-2023) and I've never seen UCheck v5.0.0.0 or higher recommend an update for this program since it was promoted from an Unsupported (no highlight) app to a Community (grey) app. Here's what I see on the Installed panel of the latest UCheck Free Portable 64-bit v5.0.2.0 (run as Administrator) which shows STATUS = LATEST. NOTE that there is no update recommended for Macrium Reflect Free on my Updates panel either.

    UCheck v5_0_2_0 Macrium Reflect Free v8_0 STATUS = LATEST 18 Oct 2023.png

I don't know if it's relevant but the INSTALLED and LOCATION fields are both blank for Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 on my Installed panel.

    TeamViewer is a false positive

FileZilla RC is indeed false positive :

Why would Teamviewer be an FP? according to their download page "Current version: 15.46.8"

Strangely not proposed as self-update by TV.

That's not entirely strange, we use slow-rollout on the same way sometimes you update the "new user" fresh download and wait for feedback, and when all looks good you enable auto-update.

That is odd. I'm also on a 64-bit Win 10 machine.

Also weird, mine is called Macrium Reflect Free and yours is called Macrium Reflect Free Edition.

    Hi Tigzy:

Just reporting that the problem appears to be fixed in UCheck Free Portable 64-bit v5.0.2.0.

For example, when I click on the Open Website on the Updates panel link for a Community (grey) app like Mozilla Maintenance Service, my default Firefox browsers launches and automatically performs a search for "Mozilla Maintenance Service" with my default Google search engine.

I copied an old version of the AdwCleaner v7.4.2 to my removable USB stick at E:\Portable\AdwCleaner 7_4_2\AdwCleaner_7.4.2.exe, and when I click the Open Website link on the Updates panel for this Portable (purple) app it launches my default browser, opens https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1 and offers the latest v8.4.0 executable.

With the latest version a lot of community software provides same or older version as update or the version number is captured in a wrong way:

I have UCheck (Premium) 5.0.2.0 64bit installed as of today; for several days I have been receiving an update for ESET Security 64bit 16.2.15.0 >17.0.6.0. The ESET website does not report such an update. If this update is a mistake on UCheck's part I would appreciate it if it could be corrected. If this helps my ESET Security is identified as Community, it is in Grey. Thanks in advance. . .

How do you identify your unsupported apps when there is an update? And, do you know if UCheck will be able to identify unsupported apps when there is an update in the future? I can be dense at times. Thanks in advance. . .

I went there and downloaded the update and installed it. The version it actually installed was still 15.46.7.
UCheck still reports that I need an update to 15.46.8.
Teamviewer's own check for updates says that I am up to date on 15.46.7.

In which case this is on Teamviewer, perhaps they pulled the update and forgot to revert the latest build number from the website.
Or it's their CDN that isn't synced multiple options.

    Tigzy, SUMo,

    V5.0.2 10/18/2023
    =================

    * Fixed the way we check for default search url
I noticed that some users (e.g., lmacri) are indicating this fixed the "Open website" search for community programs on their system. However, it still does not work on my PC (Win 11 Pro with Google Chrome as the default browser and an installed version of UCheck 5.0.2 Premium). Clicking on the link simply launches an instance of Chrome with my Home page displayed - no search. I also tried changing the default browser to Edge and got a similar result. This is only a minor inconvenience - the user can simply manually enter the program name, etc. displayed on the Update tab into the address bar of the browser window that pops up.

I would suggest changing "Open website" to "Open search" for updates to community programs. A search has to be substituted since the program is not on the compatible programs list and therefore the website is unknown.

"UCheck missed CCleaner 6.17 (now avail)"
CCleaner is a UCheck-compatible program. SUMo users will be quick to find and transition to the new release, but UCheck needs to wait until its editor has found the update and the link for downloading the setup file before notifying users of the update. (This comment applies to compatible programs in general.) Also note that only the installed edition of CCleaner can currently be detected by UCheck. CCleaner Portable probably accounts for a substantial portion of CCleaner user base. For example, PortableApps.com which exclusively deals with portable apps already had the 6.17 package available this morning and could auto -update the program if installed on their platform or allow the package to be downloaded and extracted to another location. SUMo had already identified the update and declared it the current version (aka latest).

It's not clear whether UCheck is compiling user data for compatible programs like it does for community programs. I suspect not as it should not be necessary to support updates to compatible programs. Even if the data were available to possibly allow for quicker notification of updates, notification would need to be delayed until UCheck could also support the download and install.

"UCheck updated (strangely not self detected as missing update)."
I can confirm that UCheck can self-detect an update as I encountered such a notification for the update from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 this morning (see screenshot). I had auto-update disabled. Since UCheck cannot update itself using UCheck's update engine, it treats the update as an update to a community program and the user will need to manually update the program from the "Check for updates" button on the Dashboard tab. Auto-update must be enabled as an option in Settings > General and from the wording of the option it is not clear when an auto-update will take place.

    Settings > About
Under the "Version Information" section, add a direct link to the UCheck Changelog:
    https://www.adlice.com/docs/ucheck/release-notes/changelog/

P.S. The community mods to UCheck being discussed in this forum should be considered experimental and still a work in progress. Although there is an option in setup that the user must enable, there is no documentation or explanation of these features or a statement regarding plans and status on the UCheck website, so it is not unexpected that some existing users would be surprised. Typically, such situations are handled in a separate release channel until ready for general availability or the option hidden.

    Hi Tigzy:

I just updated my MS Edge browser [a Community (grey) app] from v118.0.2088.46 (rel. 13-Oct-2023) to v118.0.2088.57 (rel. 18-Oct-2023) and UCheck Free Portable 64-bit v5.0.2.0 now incorrectly reports that STATUS = OUTDATED.
