I also follow that thread. I was just pointing out that showing that 4.6.3 is the latest version and that I am on 4.6.3.202 is confusing. I would suggest either adding the fourth node to the latest column or removing it from the current version column.

I thought SUMo was reporting the fourth node for updates.

OK... yesterday they were not showing on the Installed list, but today they are. I'm not sure why.

It looks like the problem I'm seeing with exluding programs from the update list where they don't get removed from the list is only if it is the last thing on the list. It says it has been excluded, but the item stays in the list. If I close and restart UCheck they are gone from the Update list.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    @Tigzy

I'm a little confused. What is the difference between community only and unsupported?

    Aren't community only also unsupported?

What does community only actually mean?

I am using the New BETA as recommended, post #272. When I choose the option Installed, from the main menu, I see displayed the programs I have on my computer, color-coded. This I understand. I am confused by the Filter Display. It lists 7 choices: Unsupported, Community, Installed, Portable, Microsoft, Excluded, and Up-to-Date; all choices are already checkmarked. I would have thought the choices would have been blank and that by check marking a choice only that choice would have been displayed. I am confused, what am I missing?

Select the ones that you want to display. For instance, if you want Microsoft products to display, then select that option. If you don't want to see Microsoft products, then de-select that option.

    Hi Tigzy:

Filters on the Installed tab still aren't working correctly for the latest BETA released today in post # 272. It would also be helpful to add a filter for Outdated (i.e., that would detect all Installed / Portable / Community apps where Outdated = YES).

Note that UCheck currently detects 47 programs in total on my system, including:
    • 5 Installed (purple) / supported (all up-to-date)
    • 1 Portable (red) / supported (outdated)
    • 12 Unsupported (no highlight)
    • 29 Community (grey) / (21 up-to-date, 8 outdated)
Here are a few tests I ran:

    1. If I disable Microsoft I still get Microsoft Edge Update. Note that the Company field is empty when it should be Microsoft or Microsoft Corporation.

UCheck 4_11_0_0C BETA Microsoft Edge Update No Company 03 Oct 2023.png

    2. If I enable a single filter at a time, the only one that works is Portable (N=1) ...

UCheck 4_11_0_0C BETA Portable Finds AdwCleaner 03 Oct 2023.png

... while all others [Unsupported (N=12), Community (N=29), Installed (N=46), Microsoft (N=15), Up-to-Date (N=26, where Outdated = NO and excluding Unsupported)] return zero results. I didn't test Excluded because I currently have no excluded programs at History & Settings | Exclusions.

    3. If I check Installed + Up-to-Date, then Microsoft OneDrive (which is up-to-date) is missing ...

Today for AOMEI Partition Assistant 10.2.0 it is reporting my version is 8.4 and the latest is 8.7. This doesn't make sense... the current version on their website is 10.2.0. Also it shows the Installed date as 3/25/20 but I installed it on 9/14/23.

This begs the question, why do some of the programs have the current version number in their names in the first column? This means that as soon as their is an update the name is incorrect.

In this case why is the name not AOMEI Partition Assistant without the 10.2.0.

Others like this are Bulk Rename Utility, Core Temp, CPUID HWMonitor, CrystalDiskInfo, FastStone Image Viewer, GedStar Pro, Goldbug AniMap, GToTo Meeting, Greenshot, IDrive, Logitech Setpoint, Logitech Unifying Software, Malwarebytes, MusicBee, NVIDIA HD Audio Driver, and quite a few more (I ran out of patience listing them all).

You just need to uncheck "Up-to-date" for that.

If you uncheck both "Installed" and "Portable" it's normal that nothing is shown. They are mutually exclusive as that's the only 2 types of programs.
You can't show only "Unsupported" as it makes little sense IMO. This filter is mostly here to only see supported / community and filter out unrecognized programs

Yes, we filter Microsoft based on company name... If company is empty, it's not going to be filtered. Not sure it's worth starting supporting all this cases, it's just a filter.

Hi Bill, if this is community program we cannot change the format, we save what's reported from the users. This is all automated.

The 3-position "Latest" version number (4.6.3) appears to come from the UCheck program database - see the Malwarebytes entry in the Download tab, The full four-position version number is what is actually in the uninstall data in the registry and correctly displayed as the version for the user's instaalled file. Some release documents on the Malwarebyte's website use the shortened 3-postion number and that may have been entered into the UCheck program database.

Another example of this same problem is with the Brave browser. The installed version is listed as 117.1.58.135 and is correct while the "Latest" version is listed as 74.1.58.135 and comes from the UCheck program database. The first position in the Brave version number identifies the version of Chromium used for the release, the other three designate the version for the Brave code. Chromium version 117 (Sep 2023) is the version used in the current release of Brave, while version 74 of Chromium dates back to 2019.

It's not "community ONLY", it's "Display: Community". It works like inverted filters, uncheck what you want to HIDE.

I recognized, that my Edge browser sometimes does download an older version of the Beta.
I don't know, if this is a Cache problem, but when I start a "InPrivate" session, then the new version is downloaded.

Therefore I ask you to increase the Build number and also write it here when you release a new Beta.
    Makes also referencing easier.

I thought Malwarebytes was a supported program, not a community program.

Sorry... I didn't phrase it well. I'm not talking about the filters. I think I understand how they work.

I was wondering what community only as a term means. Does this mean they are also unsupported? Can community only programs be supported?

There were unsupported programs in the list before you added community support.

On the Installed page, I have excluded SQLite ODBC Driver (remove only) and Realteck HIght Definition Audio Driver and all of the INTEL itemsseveral times and they keep coming back after I close and reopen UCheck.

I do not have the Excluded filter checked.

Yes it is. Sorry for now I'm not looking too much into supported programs issues. Will probably start doing next week.

Thanks for the latest BETA build. I may not be a "happy camper" yet as far as UCheck is concerned, but I do appreciate you effort to make it better and better.:thumb:
