Uninstalled CCleaner due to lost trust. Alternatives?

Anyone using HiBit's tools? I find them very useful and not at all aggressive. Actually, it's not needed too often as Sandboxie is set to delete most browser junk. But not all and that's where this is useful.

Hasn't been updated in a while, hope the dev. is OK. Version I'm on is 2.7.70.

 

Does anyone know if Glary Disk Cleaner has improved over the years? A few years back it couldn't match with the best of the pack.

 

I see Hibit Uninstaller is on v3.0.10 now.
Can users confirm if Junk Files Cleaner (on defaults) is safe?

 

Yes it is. I just unchecked a few things like Recent Documents and Old Prefetch Data and MS Store Apps Cache.

 

HiBit actually updated to 3.0.15--you can update it internally. Just some GUI improvements and improved remnant algorithm in the changelog.

I have used his Junk File cleaner for almost a year now--it's very "gentle" on the system. Not aggressive, just right.

 

Thanks @plat, good to know - was wondering because it seemed to find 1GB even after CCleaner and WDC, half of which was Windows system cache so I guess that's OK.

 

It surprises me as WDC is usually thorough in Win cache cleaning but it can be due to specific circumstances on your system.

That's matter most. It's easy to break the system with such kind of apps. I finally anchored with Privacy Eraser which gives me peace of mind in this regard.

 

A good replacement is HiBit, which I use and recommend myself, or BleachBit

So what is everyone else using besides CCleaner? Do any of them clean up the remnants from MS Edge Dev edition by chance?

Thanks Krusty. Looking for something new as whenever I use CCleaner of late, it makes Edge start SUPER SLOW upon first launch after a reboot of the system.

Was also looking for something that will also clean the Dev version. Thanks!

 

PE does have a 'Custom' clean-up section, so you may be able to get it to work for Edge Dev.

When I last used HiBit Uninstaller, I found the registry cleaner to be too aggressive.

 

I use AppCleaner, which could be described as "classic" CCleaner:

I've never found it to be too aggressive. On the other hand you never need to clean the registry. If you report the false positives to the author, he will quickly fix them.

 

My comment was referring to an experience I had with it in October, 2022 where it flagged some firewall rules that I was using at the time.
I've since revisited HiBit Uninstaller and I quite like it. It has some very handy tools.

I'm not planning to use CCleaner again.

 

I'm sick of Privacy Eraser erasing my Firefox add-on's settings. back to CCleaner.
