How to force the usage of an obsolete JavaRE only for one program?

I keep updated Java Realtime Environment (now at version 8.0.371)
But I have one program (an old version of MotiveWave) that needs JRE 8.0.91 to run, so I have to keep 2 versions of Java RE on my PC (Windows 10 Home 64bit), see picture

At this point, for security reasons, I wonder if (and how) I can "force" the usage of JRE8.0.91 only by MotiveWave and not by any other program.
Another more general question is if makes sense to keep "updated" JRE on my PC, while I keep an obsolete version on it.

 

In Linux it would be a matter of extracting 2 JREs, then changing environment variables in script or terminal from user account default to custom.
I know that Windows also has enviroment variables, but I don't know how to change them for one particular program

Regarding updating JRE. - as long as you don't use other Java apps that are connecting to the internetI don't think that makes difference
When it comes to Java browser applets were the worst when it comes to security. - keep it disabled

Java is disabled in the browser and, using "uBlock Origin" I have disactivated also Java Script

 

I have not installed JRE on my PC for many years now and have not noticed any software asking for it. But from what I remember Java v8 was supposed to be back compatible with all its earlier versions, and one only needed to install the latest. From your attached picture I noticed that you have the 32-bit version of 91, but 64-bit version of 371, could that be the reason the new version is not back compatible? Your issue might get resolved by installing the 32-bit version of the latest update, if available. This is all I have, as I have not used JRE is years now.

If you do not have any software other than MotiveWave that needs Java, there is absolutely no need to keep the updated Java installed. If in future you install a software that needs Java, it will ask you to install it. But I doubt this will happen.

That's OK, but they're different things. JavaScript is not part of the Java platform.
