After the KB5022913 Update, how can someone clean the Tray Icon Notification Area?
    1.jpg

I used to clean it by using the following Batch file that No Longer works!!!
    Code:
    echo.
    taskkill /im explorer.exe /f
    reg delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify" /v IconStreams /f
    reg delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify" /v PastIconsStream /f
    reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop" /f
    start "Shell Restarter" /d "%systemroot%" /i /normal explorer.exe
    shutdown -r -t 0

Are you running it as Admin and also why would it taskkill explorer.exe and shutdown? The taskkill would be entirely unnecessary if you are restarting the PC.

Yes, running it as an Admin.
After the KB5022913 Update, it does not work anymore.
Any way, is there another way to clean the Tray Icon Notification Area?

I haven't tried it and don't have time now but I would try to remove the taskkill lines from that and run it with just the reg delete portions and then reboot. That process worked manually in the past. Especially since the reg delete commands apply to HKCU. If that still doesn't work I'll try to take a closer look when I have time.

On second thought are you elevating that as UAC admin or do you use another admin account? If they are different accounts that would explain it not working. But then it never should have.

FYI if you want to link directly to a post you can right click the post number and copy link and paste that. As you mentioned #3185...

I tried the Notification Area Cleaner for Windows but it did Not worked.

With the Windows 11 ‘Moment 2’ update (KB 5022913), things changed when it comes to System Tray.
We need to find another way to remove the Notification Area Icons of programs which are no longer installed on the computer.

I have recently upgraded to Win 11 buying a new computer. I'm usually very positive about upgrades, but this one doesn't seem to have any real change over Windows 10 except in name, and the start menu seems to be a step backward in terms of graphic design...

    "Windows 11 Pro 21H2"
is EOL in oct'23, anyhow you should get the 22H2 update, not only for improved security.

I've actually got the 22H2 upgrade, it was very slow (about 2 hours) even though I have a very fast internet connection.

Windows 11 is noticably faster than Windows 10 for me and a lot of others have found the same. But there aren't any killer new features in my opinion.

from here: win11 starts faster and shut down faster.
faster start, someone explained to me, means that after desktop appearance is loaded more than before as win10 do. but on shutdown? i dont use fastboot or similar, because of multiboot.
work and feel is very similar here, but i am not that often under the hood because it runs smoothly.

half time in seconds <20. win10 needs on an equal machine up to 20sec downtime while win11 does it within 5-10sec. same stuff installed and running. same for startup. while win10 need more time but then its ready, windows 11 need same time but shows desktop some earlier. at least i dont care.

It is faster, but it's hard to tell whether it is the OS or the new machine, probably both. I'm happy that Photoshop works very well with the latest updates. With Windows 10 on the old machine, I had to go back to Photoshop's old versions as the new ones would develop unrecoverable errors. I guess security is the big difference having TPM. Still overall I don't find it an exciting upgrade, maybe I should wait a little longer before giving my impressions.

    Indeed, not exciting but ...
... I suspect you will feel more positive over time. That's how it's been for me.

Adobe raised hardware requirements since 2021/v22, need SSE 4.2, maybe others too. TPM makes no difference.
