I only use Fanboy's Enhanced Tracking list. Had breakage with some of his others. Also with Kees1958.

I'm a true believer in Dandelion Sprout and use his Annoyances and Anti-Malware lists. Also use yokoffing Privacy Essentials and Annoyances lists. I haven't experienced any breakage with these.

I think these are just images with links.
They are hidden by cosmetic filters:
    Code:
    ##a[href^="whatsapp://send"]
    ##a[href^="https://www.linkedin.com/sharing/"]
    ##a[href^="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?"]
    ##a[href*="https://www.facebook.co/sharer.php"]
But who knows what happens after you click them...

I use his "Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool":
    Code:
    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DandelionSprout/adfilt/master/LegitimateURLShortener.txt
    And "ClearURLs for uBo":
    Code:
    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DandelionSprout/adfilt/master/ClearURLs%20for%20uBo/clear_urls_uboified.txt

Me too, I use both lists in post #6978 and have had good experiences. In fact, my current uBO config is prob. the most effective and least obstructive I've ever had. :thumb:

Yes, I assume they are simply links that will of course lead you to the social media sites. But I hope they aren't tracking pixels. BTW, speaking about cosmetic vs network filters, I already figured out that most stuff what I block are cosmetic filters. It's a bit of a bummer since when I open saved websites from disk, I will see all of that crap again.

BTW, I have noticed that this is indeed the correct way to figure out whether you will be redirected or not. If you don't see the link, you won't be redirected. Take this link as example, it's about Turkey's earthquake and it doesn't redirect me. I think it's most likely the person who imbeds this content who decides what happens. But if this is the case, it's still weird that it acts differently per person.

Rasheed I have always used the 'hover' method when wanting to see where a link in an article or post will take me.

Just a little bit of extra safety insurance.

BTW, I came across this extension focused on anti-fingerprinting. Is it already possible to block this stuff with uBlock? And if not, wouldn't it make sense to implement such features? What do you guys think, is Trace any good?

Yes I understand, but AFAIK with imbedded content from Twitter, YouTube and Instagram it will never redirect you to third party sites. So that's why I never paid any attention to it.

Oops, looks like the page is lost.
This is not a fault, just an accident that was not intentional.

That doesn't happen when you use an extension like SingleFileZ (for Firefox here).
Saves pages in a compressed html format without "crap". :)

For example, this page saves as a ~700KB file with no unwanted elements.

I hope that Mozilla will verify the new version soon. Already installed on Edge, but FF is still preventing the installation of 1.47.0.

Thanks, I have checked it out, but couldn't figure out how to make it work. For starters, I haven't got a clue where it actually saves the downloaded website.

I had to disable the Fanboy's filters because it caused imdb.com to load incorrectly. Now I remember why I never used it.

Strange, looks like the site is indeed down. But I was talking about this extension, I wonder if uBlock is already blocking this stuff, related to fingerprinting.

It saves in your default Downloads folder, but with a name like "b837019c-7619-4c32-8805-f55a614f2648".
To change behaviour, right-click the icon in the toolbar and click "Options".
Under "Filename", you can check "open the "Save as" dialog to confirm the file name".

The issue with the UUID file name is known on Chromium browsers.
You can circumvent it by disabling the option "Misc. > save pages in background".

To open the saved files, you'll also have to set "Allow access to file URLs" in "Details".

But it is rather buggy in Chromium here... In Firefox it works flawless.
An alternative is "Save Page WE".

    …and Edge is also 1.47.2.

    Still waiting on FF, though.

Doesn't FF offer a forced extension update? (I don't use FF)

They do. It's just the approval/distribution process may take longer than others. Maybe we'll see the update today.

There are some websites I use that change domains frequently.
Every so often it is good to clean up unused rules and make/save a backup.

That practice serves well, also applies to other programs with limits. Yeah agree.
