    Hello @Spartan

Using the free 14-day premium trial of Malwarebytes for Windows (MB4), I strongly recommend you conduct your own evaluation along with the always free Malwarebytes Browser Guard. I believe you will be pleased with the result.
I know of no definitive 3rd party VPN speed comparisons vs MB4 as I am happy using Malwarebytes Privacy VPN which also has a free trial. Also, I know of no compatibility issues with the hundreds of competitor VPN offerings.

@Spartan I'm using the Browser Guard extension in Opera and there is no slowdown in the browsing speed.

Is there any plan to bring back lifetime license, or is it gone for good?

    Hello @Uitlander:

In your words and what @digmor crusher has accurately posted above, the unsustainable MBAM Lifetime License was a marketing idea that was designed to stimulate sales but had far-reaching consequences. IMHO, that type of offering is quite unlikely in the future.

Reminder: Good discounts can still be found in the posts of @Thankful in the Newegg.com AV Specials subforum.

Note: Although all legitimate MBAM Lifetime Licenses are always honored by the Malwarebytes' license server, if any vendor offers them for sale, they are sure to be a scam/fraud.

Thanks for the tip, but paying yearly tribute is not for me. I have no problem with freeware, shareware, donationware or buyware...rentware is just not worth the trouble.

Why do you say so ?

I don't see any indication that Malwarebytes are trying to cancel the free version.

I installed Malwarebytes 4.5.18.226 awhile ago. Had to get the free trial of the Pro version to do it, but it has finally expired, leaving me with the free version.

    Hello @The Red Moon

A free version of MBAM has always existed. Now (MB4), and even for the foreseeable future with MB5.

    Hello @The Red Moon

Malwarebytes' flagship product is constantly evolving, and even the helpers need to verify how things work. No apology is needed, my friend. Season's greetings to you.

    Cheers

I was lucky enough to purchase 3 lifetime licenses. They don't sell those anymore but my licenses still work.

Just a note: Lifetime licenses DO NOT work on Macs. Thanks to @Thankful posts I bought 4 years of Malwarebytes Premium for the Mac cheap. I still use the Lifetime Licenses on the Windows computers.

Malwarebytes for Windows v4.5.20.230 - CU 1.0.1868 has been released. (12-January-2023)

    Announcement: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/281762-malwarebytes-45/?do=findComment&comment=1549295

    Features and improvements
    • Security Advisor notifications - Customizable notification that helps you stay secure by informing you when Security Advisor finds an issue that requires your attention. Notifications are enabled by default and can be disabled or re-enabled from the Notification tab in the Settings menu.
    • Tray icon - Primary click on the tray icon now launches the UI or brings it into focus. Previously, a primary click opened the tray menu, which was redundant since a secondary click does the same operation.

    Issues fixed
    • Product or OS functionality can be broken by blocking MS-signed not protected files (limited circumstances)

    • The security news feed is not changing
    • Buy now options shown in Security Advisor for Premium users

Malwarebytes for Windows v4.5.21.231 - CU 1.0.1890 has been released. (30-January-2023)

    Announcement: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/281762-malwarebytes-45/?do=findComment&comment=1552310
    Features and improvement

Smart Scan - We just changed the game for scheduled scans with Smart Scan! The Smart Scan option now allows a scheduled scan to start only if the computer is in an idle state. Limiting scheduled scans to start only idle time will provide a significant performance improvement, as the default nightly scheduled scan (that is typically skipped because the device is usually powered off at night) will no longer kickoff when the computer is first started and hog resources that are needed for the task at hand.
    • Smart Scan is automatically enabled for the default scheduled scan

    • Smart Scan is on by default for all new scheduled scans
Scan reminder for new downloads - Our Free product is now even more amazing with new logic that reminds you to scan when we find new files in the download folder. While this isn’t a substitute for Real-Time Protection, it helps build better security habits.

    Security Advisor:
    • Check startup apps - Assists you in optimizing your computer performance by helping to find apps that have a high impact on Windows startup.

    • Notify for new issues - Updated the display logic so that these notifications no longer auto-dismiss.
New background - Malwarebytes has a fresh new look thanks to the newly added Clean Sky background. Now, users can choose between three great backgrounds to personalize Malwarebytes.

Improved error handling for update issues - Today, users see an error dialog if the UI is open when a background update fails. This is a poor user experience because the issue is most often automatically resolved on the next update attempt.

    Minor performance improvements

Added translations for new UI flows

    Issues fixed

Missing scan details on Scheduled Scans page.

Button displays incorrectly in Dark mode.

Global stats not populating on Real-Time Protection page.

I found out the hard way that the MalwareBytes Support Tool cannot uninstall the beta / latest
release version. I tried many times on two machines with the same result. MB would no longer open but did not get removed either.

No, I'm not going to send logs. If I can reproduce this on two machines multiple times I'm sure the MB devs can reproduce it once.

Thank heavens for Macrium Reflect and HiBit Uninstaller.

    Hello @Krusty:

Q1) To help me be precise, and before I contact staffers, you are referring to the MB4 product and not the MB5 BETA? Since a 3rd party uninstaller and Macrium Reflect were employed, the chances are reduced that anything is in the logs now.

Q2) Please tell me what CU version # you were trying to uninstall with the MBST-Clean utility.

Thank you always for reporting your issues, though.
