omG! First he says: work hard, stay late (overnight if you have to) and make do with pared-down employee lunches. Now this. https://twitter.com/arstechnica/status/1597296144941547520
I once worked at a place for several years that brought in new management and one of the requirements was that you had to love your job (and say so) or you would be fired. Couldn't do it (I was not alone in this) but fortunately I was moving anyway and quit before it went that far. Sometimes what they ask for sucks.
My interest in this Twitter thing had dried up, until I read about this FTX-Twitter connection. FTX declared bankruptcy recently but the founder, Sam Bankman-Fried claims Twitter has his 100 million USD stake and doesn't know what happened to it after Twitter was taken private by Elon. https://www.businessinsider.com/sam...2-11?inline-endstory-related-recommendations= Actually, I'm kind of pleased my experience with Twitter hasn't changed too much. I see a little more political vitriol but nothing I can't easily block and have it stay blocked. It's not bad at all right now. Certainly not the doomsday predictions the media were making with all the employee losses, at least not now. I am concerned about the reduction in content moderation. This is probably going to take time to refine properly. "Free speech" is never truly free.
BTW, about the constant firing of people, this is a nice article: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/11/24/wefox-ceo-disgusted-by-mass-tech-layoffs-these-are-humans.html
Yes it is a good article, and that CEO's statements mirror many--I mean: it makes your head spin how many people are laid off at a time. But...Twitter's debacle with this layoff thing isn't finished yet, it seems. Full article linked in the Tweet. Note: I have to admit, Twitter's been behaving fine. Hope it stays that way, right? https://twitter.com/arstechnica/status/1600956012529438720 Edit: ooo, here's something else. lol! Just a train wreck, one thing after another. https://twitter.com/JamesClayton5/status/1600619990691954688
Well I see this fuzz about Twitter differently. Elon has acquired Twitter and as the owner he can do whatever he wants with his company. If he want to fire staff, OK that's his right, of course within the law. If he think employees should work more efficiently which may mean working longer hours, he can apply this. The right of employees is to accept or not accept his conditions, if not, nobody's holding them. If he hadn't done it now it would have ended up with employees soon dictating conditions. Needless to say they already have superior conditions. And secondly, it's freedom of speech that Elon wants to bring back. How could Twitter previously afford to fit into the role of a god who will decide what can and cannot be said? "*" Foot note: I accept that my view may be influenced by the fact that I have an execution position. EDIT: "*" https://twitter.com/bariweiss/status/1601007575633305600?cxt=HHwWgICpxYr69bcsAAAA
Funny you mention "a god"--as I see Twitter is sort of in a free-fall by now. Actually, this is starting to get annoying, right? https://twitter.com/briankrebs/status/1603789611192307716
reading the latest news about his take over - could be time to leave twitter. releasing half of employers - outstanding payoffs (need prosecution forced), outstanding debts for the buy, lockdown for journalists, selling tesla shares, outstanding rents for twitter rooms.
Given claims that Twitter has fallen apart and that everyone has left, then critics can move on and talk about something else.
I think it's shocking how much of his Tesla stock he had to sell for this Twitter nonsense. I'm an idiot too for believing Musk when he told he was done selling shares. Now I have a $2000 loss on my Tesla shares. I think it's best if he appoints a new Twitter CEO as soon as possible and starts to focus on Tesla again. But seems like he's obsessed with this Twitter nonsense.
Don't toy with us, Elon. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1604617643973124097 Edit: 11 hours left on this poll, y'all.
It's indeed funny how Elon plays with his sheep. It's worth all his money. No doubt, he didn't care if he should step down or not because as the owner he will surely find a way how to reign over Twitter. And next funny poll is?
Tesla's stock jumped plus $5, but now it's in the red again, not a good sign. I wonder if Musk is still unloading shares since apparantly he needs to pay of Twitter's debt. I wonder if it's worth his money, he's not the richest man of the world anymore and I don't think this sits well with him. He was also at the final of the WC 2022 in Qatar and he looked quite stressed.
The weird thing is that he gives and follows polls. And for that he's seen as a tyrant by his critics.
Yeah, but if just ignores poll opinions and results he dislikes, that is a bit 'tyrannical'. Supposedly he's only letting people who have paid accounts vote now. Who next, only official members of his fan club? vox populi vox diabolus?
Both excellent points. Money certainly does make a difference. Not sure about the bots, but I guess there's a fair few. I keep forgetting this is the internet.
read in the news. poor guy, clutchted to his buy, dont accept the majority - paid are minority. money do not rule the world. and currently i never wont buy any tesla product, Europa has decent alternatives.
Now the dude two-steps away from his initial statement made in his own poll. Disgusting. Bet you he wouldn't have brought up the bot-thing if the results had been in his favor. https://twitter.com/JuddLegum/status/1605280166279892999 Money does rule the world. Sometimes this is hard to accept. But all roads somehow lead back to money.
