My countermeasures if Manifest v3 will decrease the performance of my AdBlock

Been using Brave for long while now. And I likely will continue to do so.

 

The Vivaldi team does not seem to have been very explicit about MV3.

Unfortunately, the current combinations and thus the possible answers in this survey are inadequate compared to the possible choices to be made.

If any forum member wants to open another poll on the subject with more consistent answers,you have my approval.

No countermeasures. Will stick with Opera and uBlock Lite or AG MV3 extensions whichever combo suits me better.

I use Safari, Brave and Firefox mostly. I only use Brave's integral adblocker and I use uBO on Firefox. I have AdBlock Pro for Safari. I only use Chrome on my Chromebook (with uBO). I've used uBO for so long it's second nature to download it first when setting up a new browser. As for countermeasures; I'll have to wait and see how v3 affects my browsing in Chrome.

 

Compared to UBO so will you give up some of your privacy?

AdGuard MV3 can do it but by default it cannot.
With AdGuard Mv3 you can enter a custom filter list.
With UBO Lite you probably never can.

Currently AdGuard MV3 cannot block the URL tracking parameter.

 

In Chrome you will have to give up UBO.

 

Possibly. Adverts are more annoying than relinquishing any privacy. Nothing's private on the internet anyway. What would you suggest as an alternative to uBO?

You're right. In this regard AG MV3 totally beats uBOL. I also miss the elements picker in uBOL.

 

It is not a matter of paranoia is giving up the privacy settings enabled by us all in UBO.
I have asked myself why give it up tomorrow if I benefit from these privacy-protecting settings today.

AdGuard MV3's element selector is not very efficient.

Yes, giving up privacy isn't good. I won't use Chrome on my other computers now. 'Big Google' is watching you!

 

I honestly think that this is too harsh. uBO can reliably prevent cross-site tracking, particularly in combination with the built-in protection in browsers. And yes, Facebook, Google services and the likes should not be used, of course. See also my remarks here.

I completelly rely on DNS now, I no longer use adblocker as the result of upcoming MV3, 99% of tracking and ads are blocked, I even get 100% in that d3ward test, so I am satisfied.

 

I have some doubt that DNS can solve URL tracking.

No coutermeasures: I will stick on FF and FF based browsers, more firmly than ever.

 

Unless someone uses VPN, any anti-tracking is meaningless, it is merely trimming, yet giving users a false hope.

 

Some doubt that it is a useless feature.
Firefox implements partial blocking of URL tracking.
And Brave implements it totally.
There would be no reason for engineers to develop a useless feature.

Only 238 rules.

 

uBOL exceeds my expectations. I combine it with DNS ad/tracker blocking and use of Privacy Redirects for the rare occasion I need a Chromium browser.
