Check in "Dynamic Rules" before/after adding the list.;)
If it makes you drop the rules,or you get zero rules it does more harm than good.
And to do bad you only need to add 1 custom list (example a non-default language) or many blocking rules.

P.S. It's easy to get 100% at d3ward test you only need 2 lists in NextDNS + AdGuard MV3.

We probably all need to learn to use a few selected lists in Adguard MV3.
And make DNS do the most work.:)

    I wholeheartedly agree.
I'd say this test is for reference purposes only. It can't possibly be a true measure of one's tracking exposure.

No problem here with dropped or zero rules.
    4456 of 5000
It is the only added custom list.

And agreed that we must learn to use a few or as less as possible extra lists in AGuard MV3.

But this "beta" extension in progress makes me less concerned about MV3 :thumb:

If you want to get to 100% you can "cheat" this test and add his small blocklist to your adblocker:
The compressed adblock version -> d3Host.adblock

I added "d3Host List by d3ward" and "Browse websites without logging in" in to AG MV3 extension. Besides I subscribed "EU US most used ad and tracking networks" and "Dandelion Sprout Annoyances List".

Do you see any overlap? I want to avoid double or even more blocking. Thx!

Hmmm, I was previously gettting 85%. on FF After adding the filter, I get 87%. DoubleClick, Amazon and Fastclick still show up red.

Even though 0.0.0.0 advice-ads.s3.amazonaws.com is in the filter, it shows up red in the block test. Similar in other categories. Some in the list don't get blocked and others do.

It probably depends on the Adblocker used... works for me with uBlock Origin, but not completely with AdGuard. And it doesn't work with the MV3 extensions. There the addendum list from Kees1958 is a better choice.

    AdGuard MV3 + Next DNS:

    20.jpg

    You must not cheat.

Otherwise the test is undoubtedly very unrepresentative
It is possible to get the same without entering the 3dward host file.

    No adblocker only Next DNS:

I'm using uBlock too. Are you using Firefox?

Too many rules, wait for Kees1958 to eliminate dead domains (it seems in the holiday season) otherwise when and if you add even the smallest list you will have no margin:

No, Edge, maybe the buit-in lists of Firefox interfere? Not sure what could be the reason.

For the time being it is okay for me, no other lists added.
Hoping that Kees1958 will clean his list soon, thanks :thumb:

I assume then that Next DNS is still sufficient. Updated July 13, 2019 courtesy Chrome Web Store

If using uBO with its default filters, the test will show a score of 80-85% because ad scripts that are redirected (or neutered) by uBO to prevent breakage count as "fails" even though a real-life ad or tracker would be blocked. This can be seen in the logger by showing "modified" requests. (I'm not sure how AdGuard handles such scripts.)

Using a strict ad-blocking DNS can improve the score on the adblock test, but at the risk of some site breakage. If using the MV3 ad blockers, however, an ad-blocking DNS is almost required to get good real-world results.

I'm using uBlockOrigin in conjunction with AdGuard and adding the tweaks shared above.
Immediately i noticed improvement by test landing on notorious news sites and such that just have to throw interruptions at a visitor before they've had a chance to read a first full sentence. This is the most silliest nonsense ever concocted and only serves to drive away potential readers of their content. Enough already

Check in "Rules Limits" -"Dynamic Rules".

    If you get:
    Dynamic Rules = 0/5000
    it's no good.

All of this of course if prior to the inclusion of those lists your Dynamic Rules were greater than zero.

It is interesting to note that AdGuard MV3 can use
    Code:
    removeparam
    albeit with some limitations.

This possibility is precluded in UBO Lite at least for now.

    Unfortunately, if I insert:

    • ClearURLs for uBo (666 rules).
    • Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool (1948 rules).
my Dynamic Rules come down from:

    1057/5000

    to

    0/5000

    :thumbd:

I then tried entering them by copying them directly into the user rules editor because it is not possible to subscribe to the list:

    https://github.com/Kees1958/W3C_ann...blocklist/blob/master/URL_tracking_parameters

    in UBO MV2 as well.
In this way it is possible to add this small list.
    :thumb:

It would be interesting to know if the default lists, also contain the list:

    • AdGuard URL Tracking Protection (763 rules).
I cannot equally add for the above reason.

Thx. I have got 63 of 5000. So I suppose it's OK. However my question primarily aimed to whether these custom & subscribed filters don't conflict with each other.

I can tell you my experience.
The filters entered by default outperform the blocking performance of the custom ones,at least the lists with as few rules as possible, which I entered.
Unfortunately,we have no way of knowing what lists are included in the default lists (,In this case UBO Lite is better) we can only know the number of rules.

Remove the d3ward host and check for yourself.

I found that "AdGuard URL Tracking Protection" is not in the default lists.
But even if the list is added, it doesn't work.
As the other 2 lists would also not work:

    • ClearURLs for uBo
    • Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool

To find out the above I used the Brave browser test page:

I think more is filtered with the d3ward host. I will stick with my setup for a while and see how it goes. Furthermore the MV3 extension will surely progress so we can expect its evolving better performance.
