If you see a random number on the extension icon, then it is blocking content. Unfortunately in its current form, it's not nearly as effective as a MV2 ad blocker, but it's a work in progress, so hopefully we'll see continued improvements.

This is on latest Edge browser.

Thanks for the info, it really did not block anything when I tried, so no number was shown. I will soon upgrade Vivaldi and report back, perhaps it simply does not work with older Chromium versions. But I wondered what exactly this new uBlock Minus will block in practice.

Thank you Sampei :) I noticed it's blocking youtube in-video ads now. Nice progress :thumb:

    Edit

Oops, spoke too soon. Not all seem to be blocked.

Weird stuff, I've installed it on the newest Vivaldi and once again I don't get to see any numbers as if it's blocking nothing. And of course there is no ''my filters'' option so this uBlock Lite version is completely pointless, won't be using it again. And it also shows that Google should really stop with this Manifest v3 nonsense.

It's a work in progress in its very early stages. With the hurdles @gorhill is no doubt facing with MV3, how can you expect a polished release so soon??

No you're misunderstanding, I'm not expecting anything. But what uBlock Lite shows me is that it's pretty much useless to most people, I'm guessing this is exactly what Gorhill is trying to demonstrate.

We'll see, but I think he's genuinely trying to develop an extension that works on MV3. I just unpacked v0.1.22.9167 which is not yet available in the Chrome Store. I see further progress.

wtf whats this extension with mv3?
contains >27.000 css files now and a lot more of content scripts.

and currently no option to add own lists. i consider this as close to death for any kind of adblocker/filter.

anyone run a performance test yet?

OK, then perhaps I misunderstood. I thought he was trying to show how much it will suck LOL. Hopefully Vivaldi will be able to block this Manifest V3 nonsense, to hell with Google!

Those who are critical of the ublock Origin Lite development might want to read a comment made a few days ago by gorhill4:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/x967w5/comment/ioq6v3o/?context=3

    Especially quoted from the article:

Clearly gorhill is genuinely trying to develop an ad blocking extension that works as best as he can get it to on MV3 browsers.

OK cool, that's probably why it seems extremely basic to me, hopefully he will be able to beef it up. However, if uBlock Lite doesn't have the most important functions of uBlock Origin, it won't be an option for me.

This depends per person, not everyone is using the most advanced functions. I just use a couple of filters to block most ads and trackers but the ''element picker'' is very important to me, because it allows you to create the ''My filters'' list and with the GUI you should be able to quickly block and unblock domain names. On the other hand, perhaps Gorhill can make uBlock Lite a bit more like Ghostery, this will appeal to more users.

Don't uninstall it just disable it so you can test a later version. Just a suggestion of course.

Adguard MV3 Experimental has these now.
These extensions will all be subject to the same limitations of MV3 so they'll all possibly be more alike, but Ghostery and Adguard have the advantage of a full development team that µBO doesn't. Just understand that with MV3 in its current form, all extensions will be limited compared to their MV2 counterparts.
This is what I'm doing to stay abreast of developments.
Wow! What do you expect after a couple of weeks' work?:blink:

Usually those who are late hurry.
I expect this, but the developer can decide as he sees fit.

So it is better to write the reality that the extension is in now, without excuses.

    For what purpose?
    It is a Pre-release.
it bothers me to have such an extension installed in the browser from an external source.
I can install for testing the next Pre-release,if I feel like it, as quickly as I did with this one that the "problem" doesn't exist.
    ;)
