SUMo : Keep your software up to date

8.17.1 is out now, but the developer did not update the file/product version. I downloaded the new version (zip), but sumo still says update available. Looking at the stats, I see:
Versions Flags Users (369)
8.17.1.0 current 155 (42%)
8.17.0.0 user 93 (25%)
I assume you are also checking something in the registry for those that used the installer which I did not. Is that correct?
If yes to the above question, what key is SUMo checking?

Main source is exe file. For some programs we look up in registry, or ini files, or from the binary content... case by case, tailor made logics

From the readme: 7za.exe - is a standalone console version of 7-Zip with reduced formats support.
7za.exe doesn't use external DLL files.

SUMo should not be removing this exe since it is not part of the 7-zip package and there is no dependency on it.

 

I assume that SUMo should remove this item, right ?
Where could I download it from ?

 

NO Sumo should not remove it. It should be treated as a separate program (7za.exe). That is, it should show in the list of apps like other programs. It belongs to 7z2200-extra.7z which is an extra download and not part of the main 7-zip package. Right now SUMO is ignoring/removing it.

ProtonVPN 2.0.1 is the latest stable version. 2.0.3 is Early Access.

 

Still showing 102.0.1 portable as an update to last legacy version 91.11 portable. Not sure if 102 should be treated differently as new
