    I have got some good news, Vivaldi 5.3 solved all of the annoying bugs that were introduced in Vivaldi 5.1/5.2, so I'm quite happy, except for the ugly ''puzzle piece'' icon which is now visibile in the extensions bar. Actually I spoke too soon, now all of a sudden websites that I bookmark don't get automatically added to the correct bookmarks folder, how to change this?

    The puzzle piece, can you not right-click on it, select edit, and then select remove from toolbar?.
    Not too sure about your bookmarks problem as I don't have an issue with mine.

    No, this will remove all of the extension icons (the whole bar) and this icon used to be little arrow, I don't know why they changed it. And about the bookmarks, when you bookmark a website via the bookmark icon in the addressbar, it will add this website to either a subfolder or the main bookmark folder, I don't remember how to change this behavior. It should automatically add it to the ''Bookmarks 1'' folder on my system, but it doesn't.

    Weird, I also don't see how this is a workaround. The only workaround is to bring the old icon back. And forget everything I said, because Vivaldi 5.3 didn't solve any of the bugs that I mentioned, and it even introduced a new bug. The bookmarks now always get added to the rootfolder, so I wasn't crazy. Vivaldi really needs to hire new developers, this stuff is unacceptable. I'm thinking about uninstalling Vivaldi 5.3 and reinstalling Vivaldi 5.0 because this was the last version without any annoying bugs.

    Just add the below code into a .css file in a folder, then point vivaldi to that folder in settings > appearance > custom ui modification

    Code:
    /* Toggle extension button */
    .toolbar-extensions svg path {
        d: path("M10 13l3.634-3.634c.504-.504 1.366-.147 1.366.566v6.137c0 .713-.862 1.07-1.366.566l-3.634-3.634z");
        opacity: .5;
    }

    Hi, Jane from Vivaldi here.
    Can you go over the issues you've encountered in Vivaldi that are still relevant in the latest version? There was an update to Vivaldi Stable today, so make sure you're on the latest version.
    For example, I could confirm the issue nr 1 with the bookmark dialog not closing when focusing on the web page, so I have created a ticket in our bug tracking system for it.
    2. Does this still happen. If it does, please share a link to a website where this issue occurs on and which bit of text did you highlight?
    3. If you move or delete the original Speed Dial image file, the Speed Dial thumbnail in the browser will also break.

    I could not reproduce this issue, though.

    Hi Jane, are you a developer from Vivaldi? Pretty cool that you took the time to sign up on this forum. But I'm als active on the Vivaldi forum in case you wondered. I have to say that I'm a big fan of Vivaldi, it's the best browser ever and my most used app. However I'm not that happy with the latest versions, which has introduced small but annoying bugs.

    1 Thanks for creating a ticket, what's the number? I have also opened a ticket but never heard back from Vivaldi's team again. But actually, wouldn't it be cooler if you could simply click on the bookmark icon in the addressbar and that bookmarks will be added without ever getting to see the bookmark dialog window? Perhaps a second button can be created in case you do need access to the bookmark dialog.

    2 Yes it still happens on nu.nl, go to this site and select the text on top of the page. Also, when you go to justwatch.com and you select the text ''The Lost City (2022)'' you will get to see a submenu named Selected Text, this should't be the case.

    https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/lost-city-of-d

    3 I think this has been fixed, I don't get to see missing icons.

    4 There is now a new bug that when you use your mouse scrollwheel when you hover over the tabbar, then the website will zoom in or out, this shouldn't be happening.

    5 I have heard that the latest bug that I reported about that bookmarks will ALWAYS be added to the bookmarks rootfolder, whether you wanted or not, has been fixed in the latest Vivaldi snapshot.

    I'm not a developer, but I am a community manager.

    The ticket number is VB-89859. If you tell me the ticket number you got, I can check the status.
    Clicking the Create Bookmark button on the Address Bar will open the dialog, but there are other ways to add a bookmark without opening the dialog. For example:
    • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D
    • Type "create bookmark" in Quick Commands
    • Add it via the menu Bookmarks > Add Active Tab
    • Drag the link to the Bookmarks Bar or to the open Bookmarks Panel (place the mouse cursor on the padlock icon to drag)
    • Create a mouse gesture for adding bookmarks

    Can't reproduce it unfortunately. Do you use Extensions? If you do, could you create a new User Profile and test text selection there? I'm wondering whether one of the extensions could be causing the issue.

    Can't reproduce this one either. For me it zooms only if I hold down the Ctrl key while scrolling. Also, when I have enabled "Switch Tabs by Scrolling" in Settings > Tabs > Tab Feature > Tab Cycling, then while the mouse is on the tab bar the scrolling will switch tabs.

    Are you still there JaneN? And are you also active on the Vivaldi forum? But anyway, I forgot to answer one of your questions, and it's indeed true that the bug on Instagram has been fixed. Now Instagram profiles get bookmarked under the right name.

    Cool, perhaps you can take note of some of the topics that I opened. Let's try to fix these pesky bugs and add a few features to take Vivaldi to the next level. :thumb:

    Thanks, but I don't prefer the other ways and what about my idea to completely bypass the bookmark dialog window, similar to how Firefox does this? This would be an easy way to solve this problem. The ticket number is: VB-89249

    Weird, so you don't get to see the Select Text submenu? I would rather see the Search Google for ''.....'' entry in the main right click contextmenu.

    Weird, does it perhaps have something to do with Vivaldi's GUI zooming or perhaps the Windows OS screen resolution? I always zoom my laptop screen to 150% to make things look bigger. And probably that's why the extension menu from uBlock doesn't always get displayed the correct way when there are many domainname entries. It's something that should be fixed.

    I checked our latest internal test build and the issue seems to have been fixed now, so the fix should reach the Stable version soon too.

    It might help, if you share a screenshot of the menu you see.

    Regarding the scroll and zoom issue, if you haven't done it yet, please create a bug report on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ and include information about your OS zoom levels and other possibly relevant information. Perhaps one of the testers can reproduce and pin down the issue.

    Thanks, would be nice if it's fixed, but I haven't checked it out yet. I will indeed open a few more bugreports and I will soon post a screenshot. To clarify, the ''webpage zooming when scrolling over tabbar'' problem wasn't present in Vivaldi 5.1 and 5.2, so it's definitely something new from Vivaldi 5.3 I'm afraid.

    I don't use them and I can understand that Vivaldi is trying to become like the old Opera, but I rather see them investing more time to perfect the browser, there are still many things to fix and improve, like tab stacking and bookmarks sorting for example. It's those little things that are sometimes the most important.

    Hopefully it will fix the bugs that I reported. But these recents updates have brought me way too much trouble, so now I'm planning to wait even longer before I upgrade to newer versions. I think I will waith for at least 1,5 months, and the new version should offer handy new features.

    Now that I think of it, the only reason why I upgraded to Vivaldi 5.1 is because stupid HBO Max didn't work. Otherwise I would have sticked with Vivaldi 5.0 which worked just fine, without any pesky bugs. And the trouble with browsers nowadays is that you can't simply downgrade, you need to perform a complete reinstall of older versions, now how dumb is this?

    This seems to be a recurring problem with this browser.Every update brings new bugs with it. New features and gimmicks are all good but more bugs is a definate negative.No public bug tracker and you have to continually ask via their forum for any progress on bugs which amount to thousands and some years old.
