Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more (Discussion)

They are but you can bypass that too. I have installed in on machines that meet NONE of the requirements. Seems to run fine. But I would only do it on a personal machine that you would not be bothered to reformat later.

 

Windows 11, Release Preview channel, I was just notified that 22H2 is available. Installing...

Edit: Install this with great hesitation. It borked my laptop. Browsers won't launch, everything is really slow. I am about to restore an image.

 

Ok, now I'm also being prompted to "Download and install" Windows 11 22H2 on a Windows 10 PC that didn't meet the specs for Windows 11. I haven't clicked it in case it would actually install and I'm not sure that I want it if I could do it. It would probably ultimately tell me no but I am unsure at this point, I was just surprised to see it.

I clicked out of curiosity. It started to download and then said it was not compatible. Somewhat expected it.

 

That amazes me. When I installed this back in mid-May on my spare drive, overall things improved a bit. Just goes to show you: one person's experiences are no guarantee it's going to work out for the next. That's why when people are begging to get advice about upgrading to Windows 11, I just say:" go for it and see for yourself." Simple.

 

It's run flawlessly on this laptop until now. Not sure what happened. After the restore I may give it one more go.

Oh that's good, then. One thing I have to say: Windows 11 on here has been incredibly stable since I first tried it in late June of 2021. But...I can't bring myself to run it as my daily driver. There's just something about it I do not like.

Strange that it was offered to your incompatible machine to begin with. That's not supposed to happen. But at least it didn't progress.

 

Ok, after a restore last might I tried again today. After it was done it wanted a second reboot, which was something I didn't get done yesterday until 2 hours later (I had been sucked into something else that prevented me from following up). I noticed that my Wi-Fi driver could not load until after the reboot. Might have contributed to other issues yesterday. Also "secure all browsers" has to be disabled in ESSP (ESET Security) else you cannot launch a browser. Turning it off got everything running. I assume they will fix that later. I am hoping things are good otherwise. Seems ok at the moment.

 

what is the wireless card that you have?

 

Killer AX1650w on an Alienware. It worked fine after the reboot.

ESET fixed the only issue I was still having by releasing a pre-release module so as far as I can tell all is good at the moment. Except the Firefox freezing. But that is not related to 22H2. I am getting that on a Windows 10 PC as well.

Weird. And also annoying. I'm sure there were at least some who took the bait and tried to install, only to be pushed back.

 

I posted on this previously. It did not actually let me install. It started to download and then gave a message about not meeting the requirements.

 

Right--I wasn't 100% sure the Tom's article applied to you but posted it anyway.

Hopefully, you are back on familiar ground now without any worse for wear.

 

Yep, I am back to where I was and have given up on trying to install it on anything, compatible or not.
