is your mail account considered active if you add it to a mail app on your phone? or is it still considered inactive unless you regularly check your inbox within the app?
Does the app check for mail regularly or only manually? Yes or no depending on which one of those it is.
it does. you can set a sync interval. so, is it considered active, if the app's set to sync every x minutes? and what about if you have several mail accounts added to the app? are all the added accounts considered active if they're set to sync every x minutes in the background?
I would go with the idea that If the app is checking the server then it would be considered active. It shouldn't matter how many accounts you have in the app. Each account would be a separate connection. It shouldn't matter how many minutes it is set for. Most accounts don't get cancelled for inactivity for at least 6 months, if not a full year. You should probably verify that for each account though. But again, if the app is checking for mail regularly it should not matter.
Life is diverse ... I have two old webmail accounts (domestic provider) that I set up 30 years ago or so and they are automatically redirected to my prime mail account (another webservice). Despite I have to log in into these old accounts once every six months otherwise they would be suspended. So simple redirection of mails from these old accounts isn't enough to be considered as active.
No, it wouldn't be as nobody is connecting to these accounts for a redirect to happen. That is an automated mail rule that happens without interaction. Most likely activity is measured by logins which happens when you connect to the server to check for mail. A redirect or forward rule would be no different than a spam filter operating or similar. As long as your email client was set up with the username, password, and server settings for said account your email client checking for mail would be activity. No connection, no activity.
typeapp is checking regularly, but adguard premium is able it let it go in background or not. anyhow it works as i set it up.
ok. thanks, brumm. so you enable "ag protection" for your mail client, huh? do you really think that it's a good idea to route your mail client's traffic through ag?
if you do not trust adguard premium then dont install it. its a local webfilter, no cloud scanner. and - SSL is not checked here for typeapp, but AG-P is routing traffic and filtering ads. for email it makes not really sense to scan ssl content, but for browsers i do, except firefox.
firefox is using ublock and other extensions which are superior to AG-P. i use the same settings as on my desktop - export/import. *using nightly with my own extension list in my mozilla account, so i am not reduced to the official extensions. adguard is trustable, for me. for the ssl inspection - adguard team turned it off by default in v4 dev some versions ago, can cause issues. but i think this is caused more from android than adguard. in most cases where activated i have no issues.
come to think of it, it was because fox didn't allow third party certificate installations in stable release on android until recently. starting with the release of v99, you can now enable third party certificate installations in stable release too.
I guess that also depends whether it is a standalone mail or part of an account, which provides other services, like Google, Microsoft, etc. If the main account is active, so shall be other services, even when not used.
That sucks, but I assume that Google would still notify about it ahead, I sure get a lot of constant notifications about account closures from services I never intend to use again.
