There's a similar article featured on Yahoo that suggests Elon Musk's stake in Twitter, though currently "passive," could "turn on a dime" and lead to a more aggressive involvement in the platform. It seems he questions Twitter's "adherence" to the principles of free speech.
Here's a thought... If he bought a $3 billion stake and it sent the prices up 25%, could he not just turn around and sell it for $3.75 billion? Seems like easy money. Though nobody would trust you the next time.
And now Elon Musk has changed his mind and won't join Twitter's management. I believe he should focus on Tesla and not on this Twitter nonsense. I do believe that Twitter's CEO was glad that Musk took a big stake because he knew this would pump up Twitter's share price.
Twitter made the board seat contingent on his agreement not to acquire any more than 14.9% of the company, and this is why he refused. Unlike Facebook with their "SuperShares", to control Twitter one needs only to buy up 50.1% of the outstanding shares.

Oh wow, I thought he backed off meekly. Check out his simple Twitter post. If you're a Twitter user and Elon M. takes it private, would you keep your membership? I think I actually would, at least for the beginning. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1514564966564651008
I don't really use Twitter much anymore. Was on their for years and it was fun in the beginning. Then it became a cesspool. It's overrun by bots and hatred. Not a place I personally want to hang out on. I agree with Jack, wish it did not even exist.
Well, you guys are right, it is a bit corrupted off its original "vibe" or whatever you call it. Even toxic many times. Actually, I'm off the mainstream track when it comes to Twitter. My feed consists mainly of Marcus Hutchins and Bodega Cats.
Sad to say that I have no idea who or what you are talking about @plat1098 Guess I am just getting old lol.
Meh, Marcus Hutchins was the one who stopped WannaCry ransomware in its tracks a few years ago and saved himself from going to the slammer over malware charges. But it seems Twitter has rejected Elon's offer. Let's see if this changes over time.
I found this interesting, for those that have not seen it already. Elon Musk wants to buy Twitter for $43 billion - Neowin
https://www.zdnet.com/article/twitter-adopts-poison-pill-to-fend-off-elon-musks-43b-takeover-bid/ Excerpt:
I think this is all a publicity stunt. It's all about getting even with Twitter. Elon Musk should focus on Tesla and not on crap like Twitter, SpaceX and Bitcoin. How many Tesla cars have been recalled in the last year? Why isn't anyone talking about that?
Well, I think so, too. I find Elon Musk to be highly amusing. If he can breathe new life into Twitter--go, Elon. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2022/04/twitter-board-in-a-bind-as-elon-musk-makes-his-move/ It seems another interested party is Thoma Bravo--the holding company for firms like Sophos, SolarWinds, and McAfee. Who knows what will become of that, though. You wonder if Twitter board members will turn to Thoma Bravo as a "white knight"--anything but Elon, probably. Well, almost. Edit: Just read this article more carefully. Thoma Bravo is wanting to speak with Elon Musk about joining forces? Now, that's a whole different apple right there.

If Musk is so totally committed to unconstrained "free speech" with no guardrails as he appears to be, Twitter is now destined to become much more of a cesspool of hate, racism, bigotry, misinformation, disinformation, unhinged conspiracy theories, Russian bots, etc.
omG! It actually happened, despite Twitter's hemming and hawing! Oh this is rich! Will be watching with bated breath. But it goes to show you: everything has its price. Thanks for the news, Marcelo!
