It was an expired trial in my VM, so I don't have a keycode to use for reinstall unfortunately.

I reckon they're more interested in the email side (AppRiver) than the consumer/smb endpoint side (TotalDefense)

Is there any removal tool for WSA? I couldn't find one. Since my trial in my VM expired, I uninstalled WSA and it seemed to uninstall correctly, however I see there are still running processes. The main proces is gone but all the WR* processes from the Core folder in program files are still running. The only uninstall advice I could find was to run the main process from command line with the --uninstall cmd flag. But then I'd have to install it again first(if that would even work) and it doesn't accept a new trial keycode obviously or you could use trial codes forever without paying. Self protection seems to be still active, I can't change the folder permission in order to delete the files manually.

There is no uninstaller but I do use Revo Uninstaller.

    Do this:

    • Go into Safe Mode and Delete these Folders if they are there!
    • C:\Program Files\Webroot Folder
    • C:\ProgramData\WRData Folder (Hidden Folder)
    • C:\ProgramData\WRCore Folder (Hidden Folder)
    • Boot back into normal mode

Ah I didn't think of Safe Mode, that worked thanks! Was already trying FileAssassin etc but that didn't work. Why think difficult when it can be done easy :argh:

What's Up? The ship is running steady and they are always working on WSA to improve and add more protections. They can't tell us much because OpenText is a Public traded company but Webroot is not going anywhere.

Which updates and protections? I am not receiving any, well i think one during 2021. One strange thing is if i install the beta i get an extra protection setting & for the life of me can't remember what it's called!! But it was added to the beta well over a year ago, but still not present in the latest release seems like a suspiciously long beta period!

We know this for sure? What i am wondering is if they are working on a new programme which may end the Webroot name with a fresh name and new app?

This is the latest release: https://answers.webroot.com/Webroot/ukp.aspx?pid=12&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&solutionid=1131 and we Beta testers are on v9.0.31.86 and the new shield your thinking of is the Foreign Code Shield or Evasion Shield. All part of the new Core files! I don't see a need for a name change but who knows?

Just to say: still using the antivirus product that was created by the UK company Prevx and then acquired by Webroot in 2010. And what's more, of all the AVs I have tried, it is still the only one that has kept me 100% clean of malware (this by a wide margin). I still maintain that, contrary to the naysayers, the proof is very much in the pudding.

Just a quick question. How often (if ever) do you encounter malware? I ask this, because I spend many hours a day online, often visit random websites which I've never visited before (and could potentially be unsafe), download and install lots of new software and little known software and never encounter malware.

An unfortunate exception to this, was when I got infected with ransomware when IObit's forums were hacked, early last year.
    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...s-hacked-to-spread-ransomware-to-its-members/
But, aside from that I never get infected. Not because my antivirus is protecting my system, but because I literally never encounter malware. The only thing my antivirus ever detects is harmless PUPs - which I have intentionally downloaded, as well as giving occasional alerts due to false positives. So, no matter what antivirus I was using (and my current antivirus is certainly not the best), or even if I was using none, I also wouldn't get infected.

Please note, this post is not intended to bash Webroot and certainly if it's working for you, keep using it. I'm just curious.

Never these days. But over the last 15+ years I've used Prevx/WSA, I've on numerous occasions been informed of malware that has been nipped in the bud. More so in the earlier days than the latter. Never knowingly been infected using this AV product, however. At least not so far.

Does it come with a firewall these days?
And who owns it now, is it a marketing company or a security company in charge?

By the way, on the reputable SE Labs test website, Webroot comes out poorly, this is the latest available report:

I don't care for any testing organizations but that's me! OpenText owns Webroot https://www.webroot.com/ca/en/about/opentext and there about an hour away from me.

Ah yes, I remember now, thanks.

I generally ignore the laboratory tests apart from 'SE Labs' and 'MRG Effitas', they both use very realistic scenarios.

I liked when MRG tested Webroot and it's Identity Shield but that is not done anymore so again it means nothing to me because more and more AV and AM's are not being tested like it use to be many years ago only a hand full. Look at AV-C and others. Only 12 tested in the report you linked to from SE Labs, 9 from MRG and over 70 listed on VirusTotal.

Note: Webroot's detection rate on VT doesn't show the realistic detection's from the Webroot Client and I'm sure most other AV's are in the same boat.

    Hello all,

I haven't been on here in quite some time. I am currently trialing Webroot I S Complete and had a concern about the Secure Erase feature.

I notice that if I set it to maximum (7 passes) and shred a file that say, is around 1 gb in size it is lightning fast. Most of the time it may take about a minute or two just by doing simple two pass with other shredding programs, so this seems strange.

If I change to just 3 passes it is also quick (just a few seconds)

Just wondered if anyone else has noticed this and/or if it a bug or if I am doing something wrong on my part? I have the command enabled in the contect menu too if that makes a difference at all.

I read a few posts on Webroot's community forum regarding this concern though they are from a few years back.

Anyway, Webroot is one of my favs still--I usually keep going back to it! Hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day today and sincerely,

    - Jeff :)
