I have kaspersky and f-secure, but I wonder if this program will secure my computer with win 8.1 as good as my two other programs, and if so, I will try it.

Just be sure that only 1 real-time AV protection is active at the same time! Cheers!

I have only Bitdefender free installed, so that should be fine.

Wish it could work with Comodo Firewall, but it is not compatible.

Seems you have to uninstall ALL Comodo products on the system AND SpywareBlaster to get it to install. I was then able to reinstall Comodo and SpywareBlaster after the install of Bitdefender Free.

Pretty sure windows defender is quite capable now to protect the system rather than bitdefender etc.

Absolutely, but it is so boring to use. No pop-ups when opening programs, no ads trying to sell you bloat, no installation of a myriad of drivers that hook into everything, it just sits there protecting you, for free. What fun is that? ;)

Man, I found I guy on this forum I can agree with. The pop-ups alone in other AVs are enough to make you insane. Defender just defends without a side-show of garbage.

It definitely is. But I prefer to use something that is lighter and more configurable. I don't think I'll ever stop using third party antiviruses.

Yes it has always been buggy and if they fixed something they broke something else.....
There are better free options around to replace BD free.

Kaspersky, Avira, Avast / AVG are all better. AVG has ******"subscription ending" warning after one year. Sophos is not bad but it has to "earn its name".
Zone Alarm Free Antivirus ( + Firewall) is still beta. We will see what this one will look like.

update: Sophos free going the way of BD free, too. Sooo... Kaspersky, Avast/AVG, Avira, Panda, Comodo, 360TS, Zone Alarm (beta) have their free versions. There are a few others but probably not worth trying.

But you have some nice things to do when your machine is infected. Many people who use WD are not even aware that they have an infected machine. ;):thumb:

no worry here about leaving the free zone - for windows. windows defender is in the top 10 of all and do not need to retreat. browsers are save itself. those, who need some more ofc should pay for it, no matter.

anyhow users should try to elaborate how to work without any antivirus - conscious behavior is the best lesson ever.

Bitdefender Free is going away soon, AND Sophos Home Free just suddenly went bye-bye to new users.

A 30-day trial is all Sophos offers now, then the license and protection completely expire until you purchase a new license.

They need to get rid of constant pop-ups (and I totally doubt they will) which is a major flaw for me. Would not use it for any reason.
