Developer creates ‘Quite OK Image Format’ – but it performs better than just OK Open source, offers fast, lossless compression, and has a very charming name December 21, 2021
Just what we need, another. Webp still isn't supported by a lot of image editors including Photoshop.
Looks like it's all good on Linux. It probably works on Gimp for Windows too but with Photoshop installed the odds of me installing Gimp just for webp support is unlikely. Windows itself doesn't seem to like it either. This provides useful info but I don't care for the limited options: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-edit-webp-images-in-windows-11-10 That said, the last thing I want is a "QOI" image format. Nobody will support it for a long time coming. It's like all of the audio formats. We don't need more of these when there are plenty to get the job done. I can work with jpg and png without missing out on anything else.
