That's how it looks to me. I was actually considering switching to Edge from FF, but now I'm having second thoughts.

Edge in Windows. Kees1958 has a nice post about it here:

    https://malwaretips.com/threads/9-microsoft-edge-features-chrome-doesnt-have-yet.110902/#post-966062

    EDIT:

Actually I would consider Edge in Linux too :)

And @Gandalf_The_Grey gave me this tip as well:

Edge is certainly not more secure than Firefox on a Linux OS.

Also you have to consider that many extensions (for example UBO) work better with Firefox by admission of the developers themselves.
The "always HTTPS" feature is currently better performing in Firefox than Edge.
With Firefox you can deactivate the Insecure Chipher Suites, with Edge you can't do it.

    P.S.

Probably, it would be interesting a comparative test, the Total Cookie Protection:

    https://www.pcmag.com/news/firefox-total-cookie-protection-tries-to-block-even-more-online-tracking

feature in addition to the basic one is more performing than similar features in Edge.

Summing up the pro and the cons however also I consider that in a Windows OS, Edge it surpasses Firefox for safety.

Good points you bring up, especially the first. More compelling reasons to stick with Firefox :)

Without any notice, Edge 96 on Windows opted into recommending charities for me to give to, based on my Internet habits (!), as well as a shopping service, but I was able to turn both off in Settings. Also, Edge 96 won't open on my chosen homepage anymore, but always opens the default New Tab page.

Edge 96 will still open my home page. Still looking around to see what else it is doing. Blocking cookies by the looks of it

Today's update fixed the homepage problem for me. I didn't observe any new unwanted settings changes.

Has anyone created the new key in the registry to enable Appcontainer?

    Code:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge
    Code:
    RendererAppContainerEnabled
    Code:
    dword
    Code:
    00000001
You need to edit the registry from administrator account.

    I have disabled this flag:

    • Allow Microsoft Search with Bing for any default search engine
Experience the benefits of enterprise search results powered by Microsoft Search with Bing regardless of the Address Bar's Default Search Engine. This feature can be managed via the AddressBarMicrosoftSearchInBingProviderEnabled policy. – Mac, Windows, Linux

    Thanks for the tip :thumb:

I found this one just below it:

    • Allow tab-to-search using Microsoft Search with Bing
BTW Sampei, are you using Edge in Linux?

I don't think it's advantageous, unless you have a specific need, to use Edge in a Linux OS.
Using Edge on a Windows OS has some security advantages.
Example the use of SDSM,Code Integrity Guard....etc....
I am convinced that using Firefox in a Linux OS is more advantageous than Edge, obviously if we consider privacy and security as primary factors.
