There would have to be a MFT entry for each of them. Enough to slow things down? Probably not. All the same wasted space is wasted space. I believe the MFT loads into RAM so... wasted RAM.

Wow! I had over 5000 and thought I had some kind of record there. Since these were just empty folders, there was no extra space gained by deleting them all. In one day's time, 12 have come back. Seems vaguely virus-y but otherwise harmless.

Just sloppy Microsoft programming. Someone created a process that makes these but does not clean up after itself.

I deleted 16.500 on my W10. Will see how quick they return. For me those folders started to be created after OS install in June last year, so it seems that this is a long lasting problem and not something new.

Last night, I did a clean install of Windows 11 on an HP laptop with an AMD A6-5200 CPU, which originally came with Windows 8. It had a major issue where every few seconds it would freeze briefly. Aside from the freezing, performance was very good. Some Googling revealed that the freezing is an issue with the AMD video drivers. It took quite some time to find working drivers, but I eventually did. I had to uninstall the video driver installed by Windows with Display Driver Uninstaller, before installing the working driver. After that, the computer was running fine. I then had to disable automatic driver updates, as Windows Update wanted to install a new video driver, which would have led to issues again.

It was a hassle getting the computer working, but Windows 11 runs really well now. So I'll say once again, that for the most part, for any computer that Windows 10 runs well on, Windows 11 should run well too.

I received this computer with no OS installed, but the issue I had affects Windows 10 too. So if I had opted to install Windows 10, I no doubt would have had the same experience.

Thanks for the feedback, Roger. I'm still waiting to hear about a must have feature that's not included with Win10. It seems in many ways Win11 is just another Vista / Win8. If that ends up being the case I might try Win12 one day, if I'm still around that long. :D

I've installed the Window10 right-click feature. It works, but...
In that one specific folder - where I have all my apps, software, browsers, etc... - it crashes anyway; therefore,
    I'm continuing using - Shift+F10.
