OK, so Firefox has now become spyware. On the other hand, it might be handy to some people.

you should refine your declaration of "spyware", at least that sentence is rubbish. go play more with vivaldi

 

Well, from what I understand, all mainstream browsers do this to some extent. I mean, you can opt out in Firefox, the setting is right there in Privacy and Security since I'm in the US. I guess it pays off to read about this stuff in esoteric forums like this one. I think most wouldn't know or even care about issues like this--as long as they can log into Facebook or TikTok or whatever.

 

I looked and looked yesterday. That setting isn't in Firefox here in Oz yet so I guess I don't have to worry just yet either.

 

I found where to look but that option does not exist in Firefox 93 here on Windows or Kubuntu. Haven't checked the other OSes yet.

It's supposed to be rolled out to everyone in stages. When? Doesn't specify. Also, it says "opt-in." Mine was already enabled when I learned of this "feature" and went to the location. So on here, it's actually "opt-out" if I choose to do this.

Edit: so far, I haven't seen any ad via searching. Anyone see one yet or has everyone already turned this off?

 

hey, krusty, add these two lines to your prefs.js file and it will be disabled by default when it's available in your region.

Ah, I have Studies disabled here as well. Anyway, as long as I can disable it I'll be OK.

still, for those that want to know how to do it:
the prefs.js file is located in your profile folder and you can open your profile folder from the ff help menu:
"menu - help - more troubleshooting information - click "open folder".

Nice. I may try beta again in portable. I have just been using Edge since I did a fresh install of Windows 11. I have not installed Firefox just yet.

win11 & firefox should work well togehter as some voices wrote, last impact was caused from MBAM ^^

btw portable is vulnerable to attacks if it not further secured like "program files"

my fox is sealed & secured like a pharaoh's tomb.
i use multiple profiles.
and on a side note, you shouldn't run fox portable from "program files" directory.
