Anyone else seeing an issue with Exploit Advanced Settings not saving correctly? On both of my Win10 21H1 machines when I click 'Restore Defaults', next time I open Advanced Settings some have been disabled again. I notice this more on the 'Advanced Memory Protection' tab.

I suspect there may be a conflict with HMP.A so I'm not too concerned, just curious.

    Hello @XIII

In anticipation of an updated ~200MB MB4_offline installer, and the 2MB so-called stub installer, yesterday afternoon (U.S. Pacific Time), I had downloaded from the usual Malwarebytes' server and soon uploaded to VirusTotal for their analysis and my meager inspection and VT endorsement.

The stub installer apparently had required no updates since earlier this month. For your examination, the updated MB4_offline installer's SHA-256 hash is:

    c6da64a7d35b880aeac21a688cc3e9b423005035af0ae252c092d38ea2d4aa23

the stub do not need updates necessarily. it only needs a general file with information to find the rest. problem for the stub it do not download a single file, more a collection of files. thats why i prefer using the offline setup, but i would not say that it has to be the latest, in any case of installation you need to go online and get updates, so for mbam itself.

for the stats - 200mb is bad joke, sorry. its 9 times bigger than 2.21 and 3 times bigger than v3.8. thats no improvement, just bloatware. for a pure signature scan v2.21 is still enough. for full second opinion i use VT and drop files or hashes, because malwarebytes is on their scanning list.

    Hello @XIII

Both of the MB4 current release versions of the stub & offline installers presented earlier this morning (U.S.A. PDT) and have now been run through VirusTotal.

    Hello @XIII

Under normal day-to-day circumstances, Malwarebytes for Windows (MB4) checks for application/DTBS updates using its customizable settings. If the typical user leaves the customizable settings at their default settings, that user's MB4 will achieve reasonably up-to-date and safe protections.

Unless you wish to conduct personal research with the stub and/or offline installers, or are experiencing an ongoing update issue, your Windows system MB4 automatically (or manually), and efficiently, queries the Malwarebytes CDN edge servers and should keep your system's MB4 nicely updated.

If you query MB4 now, it should have updated to 4.4.8.137 - CU 1.0.1474.

    HTH

I already updated using the online installer (my least preferred option).

I find it pretty annoying that Malwarebytes announces new versions without updating the full installer, over and over again.

    Hello @XIII

If we mean the MB4 driven automatic or demand updates to the application, components and DTBSs, those are probably the safest, earliest, and overall best.

I apologize for the delay between the Malwarebytes official update announcement versus the physical availability on the Malwarebytes CDN edge servers. Some of the staffers in the responsible teams are geographically separated by many time zones. Perhaps you could look upon announcement postings, such as mine, as an early or preview announcement.

    Cheers
