Yes, I was just going to post that each list is using almost all of its available entries. :)

Yeah, you're right. No problem to use both lists or the authentic integral Adguard base list.

    Okay.
Yeah, I'd been using uBO Easy & Fanboy's filters. I thought I'd reduce overhead by switching to uBO AdGuard filters...just to see. It's been awhile since I used uBO AdGuard filters and some time since I used AdGuard extension. Then I noticed cnn ad with cnn videos. I did not make the connection to my switching to uBO AdGuard filters. That's when I re-visited AdGuard extension. I was pleased not seeing cnn ad with cnn videos using AdGuard extension. Then I got curious. Whats what with uBO.

Yes but only for the adguard list the comes directly from adguard. The same adguard list you get if you use adguard adblocker

The adguard base list built-in in ublock is different. And design to be complementary to Easylist as stated by gorhill (ublock’s own creator)

Indeed. In my later post I had already drawn that conclusion. But it's always good to make things extra clear.

Ofc it can, however first I need u to show me the ad! Because even in incognito mode with no extensions, even using my ISP's dns, even disabling block intrusive ads, I CANNOT GET THIS AD TO SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If u show me the ad and/or how to get it I will show you how to do it in Chromium, law of equivalent exchange

firefox inspector -> ads created by scripts have an "event" tag after that ad div, chrome does not have something similar. for uBo you need to dig into the netlogger and block this or that script. but some hosters combine ad-scripts and working scripts to avoid such filtering.

i did, he did, read again.

    being aggressive may not help.

I'm using Vivaldi, but to clarify I'm not seeing any ads, but I get a warning from their ad-blocking detector. I already figured out it has got something to do with which ad-filter list you are using, when I switch to another one I don't get this warning.

But something else I noticed, there's definitely something weird going on with the uBlock and Vivaldi's ad-blocker combo. If I disable Vivaldi's ad-blocker I often don't get streaming quotes on investing.com, strangely enough. If I turn it on, all is fine, but you would think it would be the other way around.

Probably you have in Vivaldi a filterrule that's missing in uBlock.

Was able to finally update Firefox uBO to 1.38.4 today via the Addons Store. Edge likewise updated fine to 1.38.4. :)

Does anyone get uBlock Origin via Microsoft's Edge Add-ons Store? I don't--I get it from the Chrome Webstore. The Edge Store one still has the Nik Rolls version.

I use the "Nik Rolls" version.
It is the same as the Chrome version:
He was the one who created a fork for the old legacy Edge.
    https://github.com/nikrolls/uBlock-Edge
I believe that is the (only) reason that his name is still associated with uBlock Origin on the Edge add-in store.
Maybe @gorhill can comment on this?

Yeah that's what u think until one day he decides to split from the main repo or just to add his own change in combination with the main repo changes but obviously you're not gonna review every single letter of code on every update are you? You're setting yourself up for this.

That's why I hope @gorhill can make the time free to say something about this.
I prefer not to enable other stores in Edge.

Yeah well i don't expect smth big like ublock origin to be fake...

But if you're downloading an extension you could check the code quickly just to be sure. All extensions are open-source as the code is stored on your pc. Well at least for chromium i don't use firefox

Thanks alot for the info, Gandalf_The_Grey. Good to know the current Nik Rolls version is OK w/gorhill. I guess one can confuse this w/the legacy Edge add-on that Nik Rolls also developed. But I guess that's a separate entity that we no longer have to worry about.

the simplest method is to download both and compare file hashes (only the manifest and meta-inf files should be different.

Hmmm, speaking of Mr. Hill, it seems he's been monitoring rival Adblock (managed by the same company Eyeo viz Adblock Plus),which seems to be buying up obsolete abandonware "uBlock" (no relation to uBlock Origin--)

Earlier this year, he exposed AdBlock Plus as panhandling for donations when the organization already pulls in 50 million dollars/year from its "acceptable ads." Frankly, he's been showing remarkable restraint discussing these shenanigans. It seems to be toeing the line into lawsuit county but not quite...
