So I have to wonder whether this was a deliberate act of self-sabotage by Zuckerberg to distract from last night's devastating whistle-blower report on Sixty-Minutes.

"DNS appears to be a symptom of the root cause of Facebook's global failure. Don't expect a quick fix.

The old network troubleshooting saying is, when anything goes wrong, 'It's DNS.' This time Domain Name Server (DNS) appears to be the symptom of the root cause of the Facebook global failure. The true cause is that there are no working Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routes into Facebook's sites..."

"Top executive Sheryl Sandberg is leaving Facebook

The chief operating officer is leaving the company after 14 years.

Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said she would leave the social media service after fourteen years, marking the departure of one of the most high-profile female executives in the U.S. at a time of tumult for the company.

The high-profile executive... has been the second most recognizable figure behind CEO Mark Zuckerberg..."

Don't matter a whit whether you use it or not, join it or not. Zucky Zoidberg has his tendrils in nearly every pie, probably even more so than the info brokers like Equifax. If I had to guess, I'd bet only Lil Bro (Google) and Big Bro (the TLA collective) knows more about you than Fakebook. A good example is me. I had never joined it. About a year ago I tried to sign up (it would of given me access to vk.com without a phone number). The response was that I am permanently banned. How do you get banned from a site you never tried to join? A preemptive ban? LOL. Answer is Zucky and his minions must of been monitoring my internet use, knew how critical I had been of their lil clique, and already blacklisted me.

So just because you do not "use this", don't delude yourself into thinking that Fakebook doesn't (or can't) use you. Everyone's data is a cash cow for Zucky, and will be milked at every opportunity.

At least I can still block trolls and pages on FB, last time I checked it was about 10k. Reddit has recently set the limit to 1000, because of some nonsense. Twitter is a mess right now, so the number of usable social media is growing thin.

You might try Raddleme. It will take Twitter awhile to purge itself of the commie-socialist infestation, but I might consider joining it if it actually happens....but probably not.
