Thankfully I don't even have that option on my desktop PC running Norton. Smart Scan either.

It's the same for me too, although I have not updated to this new version yet.

I had stated in the past that it seemed a waste for security vendors to release a new version of their products every year that had been completely reinvented from the previous year because by the time the new version was stable and had the bugs worked out it was time for the new one. I think Norton took this to the extreme though, per the Wikipedia article I just checked it looks like version 22 was released 7 years ago. I'm sure there have been updates but I don't see how this is competitive with other products. 2 or 3 years, fine. 7 years is longer than most devices last.

If you accept and get a pop up to send anonymous data to Symantec, you can decline.

I agree. Updating virus definitions is one thing but how much AV technology has advanced to justify an entirely new version when resources are better spent to optimize a current version and fix bugs?

Got this update too. SONAR-protection does not work. Suggested fix bij Norton does not solve it unfortunately.

What do you mean? How did you discover SONAR isn't working?

After reading your post I opened the classic Norton UI > under Security > Advanced, I found all settings were disabled, but after enabling they have stayed enabled so far.

Norton 360 showed a warning. SONAR-option grayed out. Using Norton NRnR right now.

Edit: Norton reinstalled and it works again (version 22.21.9.25). Lets see what LiveUpdate brings…

I'm just about done with Norton. I cannot open my password manager through the N360 UI any more as it now opens the default browser asking you to open your vault with their extension. Trouble is, I CAN"T open my vault through the extension. This means I have no access to my passwords stored within Norton's server.

The changes they've made to their VPN means it now only works when it feels like. And oh, let's not forget the constant barrage of pop ups with no way to permanently disable them.

    Bottom line... :thumbd:

I thought you said that before? :argh: :argh:
I stopped using Norton a long time ago when all the changes took place. I'll make some reviews for Safe Web using Safe Web through Firefox Extensions once in a while, then disable the extension when I'm done. I've been doing the reviews for over 12 years and it's hard to stop. I guess I'm addicted to it. :argh:

    Yea, yeah. I know. ;)

I already have a license for Kaspersky Security Cloud and I just purchased a key for their VPN for about AU$20. The free VPN is OK but is limited.

Probably OT for this thread but the Kaspersky VPN is miles ahead of the Norton VPN. It is faster, with no noticeable difference connected or not. I can check my emails on my machines without getting any errors. Happily so far, I do not get any CAPHTAs with either Google searches or @ YouTube. :thumb:

Symantec's AV is excellent. As I've said, only reason I don't run it is because I have Kaspersky.

I never use the password manager with any AV as I change them too much to get locked into a product. Which is why they include them.

Well I've got Norton Password Manager (finally enabled by changing Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox to Standard) and for about AU$20 I bought a two year premium license to Kaspersky Password Manager. I can uninstall KSC and still use their Password
Manager, or I can use Norton Password Manager while KSC is installed.

But all that is redundant anyway because I also have Enpass installed. Enpass is local, so no cross device vault, which some prefer.
