    signing itself is very simple way:
    Acquiring an account on AMO (firefox account for sync do not fit)
    modifying manifest -> "applications" > "gecko" > "id":
    (you cant use same as gorhill/author)
    let sign for private use, not for public distribution
    download the signed build when ready.

    attention: due the different ID you need to import settings from used uBo, and it does not replace the installed build. need to disable the other one.

    but - signing is again possible as i read so this issue was temporary and uBlo dev is signed again.

    Yeah, I noticed that as well. So it seems the issue is resolved. :)

    I didn't go as far as signing it for myself, because the only benefit would be to get rid of the awful yellow entry in the add-on page, haha.

    It is a good idea to enable uBO in Tor browser though, at least according to this study.

    Yes, that's the sage thing to do. :) There's still 1 and 3/4 years' time. But I can already see Microsoft Edge kind of following along while proclaiming this, that and the other in typically opaque Microsoft style. I have faith Firefox will find a way. :thumb:

    Could only get Edge's uBO to update to 1.38.0 but that's fine, I'll just wait for the .2 as there does seem to be a delay between announcement and actuality as stated above.

    Backed up my uBO stuff but there's nothing new for Firefox--still at 1.37.2. It's been at this version for a while now, right?

    Is anyone noticed efforts to defeat uBlock's Zapper Mode recently? And repel uBlock generally but that effort is nill. uBlock remains consistent despite efforts to disrupt it's useful progress for us.

    The situation i speak of is on (right now anyway), to do with those websites like Sputnik for one recent example for me where i found the Zapper having to ZAP layers upon layers of overlay. So in essence they are using layering in some footers and headers and by gosh always trying new ideas to delay a web visitor to remain on the frustrated page kicking out interferences just to read a 30 second paragraph.

    Its so stupid easy to see. Why in the freakin heck do they want to marr or otherwise make their own web product difficult which only diminishes reader/viewer content. And it's not even about notorious ADS, just ruining viewer's ability to find content let alone read it.

    Yes, in rare instances, up to three times but in my case, with the Picker. I think a multi-layer of Picks messed with my ability to get YouTube comments to load at one point. I had to turn My Rules off a couple of times. :rolleyes::)

    Yeah the element picker can be tricky to fine-tune properly on any given site.

    Definitely not your imagination ;) Quite often I've successfully masked something with the element picker, but then anything almost the same with only a slight variation in the code will elude the filter.

    the picker is nice, but not almighty, there exist real examples where it fails, in special in players and/or overlays. then i prefer browsers inspector. in both cases it need some gambling.

    Right there @Brummelchen is where I recently noticed sites layering like crazy to defeat/prevent viewers from NOT getting tracked so easy or even reading content normally. What use to take one Zap I found multiples but finally licked that silliness. Stupid stupid stupid on their part.

    I usually rarely seldom bothered with the zapper until some sites started messing with pages deliberately on purpose.

    the reason it happens is because element picker and zapper create cosmetic filters; and unlike network filters, cosmetic filters can get nullified when the page content is automatically refreshed in the background.

    "nydus" is one of such example, ubo cannot pick the popup inside the player which is a subdomain
    Code:
    #original
    {
        display: none !important;
    }

    this is part of my style (stylus) for the subdomains (are changing) - the subdomains are unique. but i would not blame ubo in general for these few examples for me.

    No doubt that's part of the problem, but I was able to vanquish these sort of "ad containers" in calgarysun[.]com with multiple, yet similar, cosmetic filters:

    ! 2021-09-26 calgarysun[.]com
    calgarysun[.]com##.ad__section-border--category-topmost.ad__section-border > .ad > .ad__container
    calgarysun[.]com##.ad__section-border--category.ad__section-border > .ad > .ad__container
    calgarysun[.]com##.ad__section-border--story-topmost.ad__section-border > .ad > .ad__container

    Even though the ads were removed by the static filters, there were large blocks still showing where the ads would have been, and they took up a lot of realestate in the page, so these cosmetic filters remove them nicely.

    Absolutely, there are some cases where the element picker or zapper is rendered ineffective.

    Edit

    disabled calgarysun links

    Well this clears up at least some of the questions why at rare times for me, the Picker doesn't get it right the first, second or third time (or ever). Thanks for the explanation. :)

    What browser do you use, Rasheed? Reason why I ask, I disabled both uBO and Trace extensions in Firefox but only got an open space where an ad would otherwise be. Then I disabled Strict privacy setting in Firefox and got a large ad for Crypto. No adblocker warning.

    Way to go Firefox--blocking something that uBO and Trace together didn't fully remove. :thumb: Edit: I suppose I could've used the Picker to create a My Rule cosmetic filter but the site is not on my list. :) Too poor. :'(

    no ads here. but i think its script based, so the picker is useless here. you need to find the script and thats only possible with the firefox inspector.

    edit: its
    Code:
    investing.com##.midHeader

    Easylist
