That's a really valid and good question. If so probably not as shock-pronounced as the W8 'store nesting" was they used. Which also incorporated and still is (Win 8.1 my workstations) a system of "duplications". Settings in the store interface GUI as well as normal Control Panel. Windows 11 should escape the duplication like that. Now how many other additions and other shifted positions for say the taskbar or others we're yet to see which one's they settle on before official release.

Paul, a new day and both Win11 load in 11 seconds. I made no changes to either OS.

I found out I had something called "csm" enabled in UEFI. After searching what that was, I disabled it because I don't have any "legacy" hardware. This reduced boot time by a couple of seconds but not getting 11-second startups--that's wonderful. :) Maybe 15 seconds in Windows 11. Have just about every service disabled in Startup/msconfig. Oh well. Still boots quickly enough. :)

This morning I installed Win11 (from ISO) to my main computer. Multi-boot.
Win11 loading time was 44 seconds. Loading time was checked every hour or two and it remained at 44 seconds.
At 6 hours from the install the loading time was 13 seconds and this time has remained.
I can't explain this. It has been similar on two computers.

    Who isn't all for that?

Let's keep the fingers crossed, that after all these years (for you old timers), multiple released versions and the such, that Micro at least tries to get on the dime and refine all those myriad channels of internal interlinkings and discover then deliver, even for themselves a much more improved and dare say, innovative stable O/S to rival their own previous systems. And most of all give the user's some transparency instead of burrowing useful settings or duplication antics that cost time, productivity, and any uneasy expectations yet again.

There's no more harsher critic as a devoted Windows Series user than myself. And it's meant to drive the point home in expectation that they can rise above themselves, and make for satisfied customers for the long term.

And as Paul Harvey would say, stay tuned for the rest of the story.

Here's a guide showing a range of useful tips and tricks on making Windows 11 behave more like a classic desktop, with focus on efficiency and productivity, including left-positioned system menu, Open-Shell menu replacement, Quick Launch Show desktop button, Explorer look and feel, unnecessary applications, lock screen, and more. Have fun.

@roger_m ok suppose I have legal win 7 pro key can I activate installed win 11 pro or I need to have win 7 installed first and Then I can activate to win 11 ( via so called upgrade). Secondly, if the win 11 is not activated and windows update ceases to work can I still use oflline updates from windows catalog, download and install manually after 30 days trial license or that manual installation will be somewhat blocked? Thanks

You don't need to install Windows 7 first. You can use your Windows 7 key to activate Windows 11.

If Windows isn't activated, you will still get updates. The following is for Windows 10, but more than likely it will be the same for Windows 11.

@roger_m legally how it's palced, its legal or illegal to use unactivated win pro 11? Or nobody knows (I am not a company)
It seams that microsoft is turning a blind eye on unactivated win 11?
I wanted to try pro to use gpo rules
I have no intention of doing something illegal
I might want to use win 7 pro key for another device if I don't have to activate win 11, I still like win 7 the most, I am not sure I want to resign using win 7 completely

EDIT: ok nevermind I think I don't have to activate
on the link it says: "Microsoft allows anyone to download Windows 10 for free and install it without a product key."

I'm not qualified to give legal advice but based on the fact that it is quite feature locked when not activated then I would have to assume it is not a big deal.

@lucd I was unaware of this, but it isn't legal to use Windows 10 without activating it, even though you can do so.
    https://www.kapilarya.com/faq-can-i-use-windows-10-without-activation
However, Microsoft won't take action against individuals doing so.

As per post #444, only one Kaby Lake processor is now approved for Windows 11 and that is the i7 7820HQ for the MS Surface laptop--costing 3500USD. Makes all the Kaby Lake desktop users feel great, right.

Does anyone foresee any additional compromises to the lower limit? Seems to be an overall exercise in futility on ASUS' part, unless there's a drastic revision on Microsoft's part in the next couple of months, and/or a sudden, huge demand for Bitlocker in Windows 10. :cautious:

plat1098, the best thing you can do is NOT upgrade, or even care. And when Microsoft realizes oh, we're doing the Vista/8 thing again, then things will fall into their place. I know I will not be upgrading any of my 10 boxes until at least 2025, and then, probably keep 10 for fun stuff and games, and move stuff that needs "updates" to Linux.

This is probably the first time in the history of ever that I don't intend to upgrade any time soon. Too high hardware requirements with too many deprecated features. :thumbd:
