So if we Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows, does that mean we don't need HTTPS Everywhere extension any more?

 

Thanks JR. I'll give it a run like that for a few weeks and see how things go. I suspect I'll have to make exceptions for my router login URLs.

 

The Computer World article mentions a YouTube video but I couldn't find a link to the video in the article.

In the same article, someone called Selena Deckelmann is quoted as saying "... We've been asking ourselves, 'What can the browser do to help people navigate today's Internet?' We're starting to experiment with suggestions that help people find items from their history, places they frequently visit and web content most relevant to them." but there's no link to that source either.

I use Firefox' HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows ever since and I think it works great.

Firefox' HTTPS-Only Mode recognizes my non-https router login URL and doesn't try to change it to HTTPS.

Click the lock and set to 'never'.

Btw, those who have proton disabled run into trouble in settings now. A bug ticket is set to wontfix. You need to work on prefs.js or create a new profile.

This is exactly what I think about Mozilla, it's not a browser for power users anymore, unless you are willing to install tons of extensions for stuff that I consider to be basic features. Plus I wonder if their new plans are going to be good for your privacy, probably not.

 

Thanks guys. So far no issue. It wasn't easy at first to disable HTTPS Everywhere but I didn't have to whitelist my ISPs router login URL [192.168.0.1]. I shall see with my Netgear next time I use it.

me too, i had to add in the exceptions (without firefox doesn't open my router page),to enter on my router i had to use 192.168.0.1 , sadly i can't do it on chrome enable only and add exceptions
