I don't know @camelia because I have not yet tried Windows 11 but I have asked the question by email to Tony (in the hope of a reply and will post here if that happens.
I'm sure that some of the early adopters of Windows 11 will let us know.

If you have a short work session in shadow mode, there is no point in enabling shadow mode for all drives, it is better to keep the backup drives physically disconnected from the computer, this will protect them from virus blockers and ransomware 100%, like this https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/macrium-reflect.356309/page-371#post-3014155
    NOTE!
Macrium Reflect has a built-in ability to protect your backups from damage by blocker viruses and ransomware.

Have a simple short and sweet question. It's recommended to disengage Secure Boot. This is been expressed over and over again. Seems an issue can rise when rebooting INTO shadow mode IF it is Enable. I understand this.

However if you make use of SD On-Demand Only and during your windows session THEN and ONLY THEN enter Shadow Mode but on reboot EXIT Shadow Mode-Then is it true that Secure Boot won't pose any problems in that routine.

    Thanks

Thanks @aldist - Meant to mention FastStart-Hiberfil not Secure Boot.

    @EASTER,
Using SD 'On-Demand' doesn't change a potential problem when using Fast Startup with SD. In order for SD to discard the changes that were made while in Shadow Mode you must either do a 'true' Shutdown or a Restart. But (as @aldist indicates in his referenced posts) when you Shutdown with Fast Startup enabled your computer actually goes into hibernation, so changes that were made to the volumes in Shadow Mode will remain! However, Restart is unaffected by Fast Startup - it always performs a 'true' shutdown before restarting your system - so performing a Restart will always discard the (non excluded/commited) changes incurred while in Shadow Mode.

I see. It got a little confusing since SD is mostly any longer just used On Demand Only but I haven't experienced any issues such as some were running across. And that's likely because for some years, and indeed for more than that I always assure Hibernation is turned off to save space, and only later learned that it could possibly interfere with SD not flushing changes due to Hibrfil and sleep state features.

That said, in testing ransomware locally back when Ransomoff was in beta, there arose an issue where the file infectors literally renamed and scramble the SD folder and files, then froze the screen. That necessitated a Hard Shutdown by disconnecting the power inlet line.

So I imagine (perhaps you can verify) that a hard reset also performs a 'true' shutdown as well

There is a giveaway going on at SharewareOnsale of this app, but nothing mentioned of reinstallability. I have asked that question on the fora but my question keeps vanishing in the comment field.

    Does anyone know the facts?

@pb1, that 4th condition (above) should answer your question. ...it's for the current version of SD, so I suggest you grab the offer!

Thanks for the confirmation on that. When Shadow Defender is compatible then it let's you know Secure Folders as well. They both use slightly similar kernel mode (and technically touchy) driver filtering for vastly different program features. And they both perform very well.

    No, it does not.
Some giveaway programs you can install and then uninstall immediately, some, not. You lose the licens whenever you uninstall it.

So this is a very important factor.
With SD, you usually lose it. So a backup is vital.

Appreciate that feedback and the positive result. Finally got around to updating the Windows 10 but no way time will allot me to join Dev Channel so just like when I relaxed with XP until 8 I can wait for official upgrade whenever they see fit to assume it's ready for prime time.

That diddy about SD working in Windows 11 is welcome news. Thank You @Antarctica

If you uninstall this SharewareOnSale version of SD you will not be able to reinstall it after the giveaway offer ends (it can be reinstalled until the offer's end-date). Otherwise you may continue to use the current version until it no longer supports a future version of Windows that you might install. As with most giveaways, you will not be allowed to update this free version to any subsequent version of SD. Is that clear enough?

    No.

Some giveaways you can reinstall - after - the giveaway has ended, some not. I have had many programs from SoS that i have uninstalled after the ended time period that does not function when installing later on. So, my question is valid since it is not 100% clear what, that means.

But i am asking in the wrong forum,

The program must be activated online before the end of the promotion, two days left. After the end of the promotion you will not be able to activate the application and the program will be useless. It is better to use the standard distribution from the off-site, with which you can almost legally extend the trial period by deleting a certain registry key.

Actually, it's better to buy a legal license! Imho $39 (for a lifetime license) is a very small price to pay for a fantastic program.
Let's support continued development of SD.

I just wanted to agree fully with two recent statements:

For example, just yesterday I tested various software for keeping an application window on top, above all other opened windows. I tried about six or seven such programs in Shadow Mode, comparing their functionality, way of use etc. - one after another. Finally I took my decision, left Shadow Mode and established my preferred solution now within the real system (it was "Window TopMost Control"). Without Shadow Defender it would have been impossible to make all the tests and experiments and being sure that afterwards my system will be in the same condition as it was before them.

I love Shadow Defender for allowing such actions. :thumb:

I couldn't agree more, I have 2 licenses for this very reason. I spent more than a thousand dollars over the years for programs that were ultimately useless, created more problems, or simply disappeared in the long run. SD is truly unique and deserves support.

I tried installing SD from SOS and it didn't work out. It said the trail period was over or something. When it was on that very day.
So u'll not be able to install again and again after that date. But i couldn't install only, but its a neat program, virtualization from cmdline too. Which tool gives u that option to work from cmdline.
