    Actually that's correct, and specifically Drop Rights enabled, that's what turned it orange. Ok, thanks.

    Still having no luck w/hotkeys. latest ctrl + P doesn't do anythiing. In fact, the "Apply" button doesn't seem to do anything either. But "OK" does do the job.

    Hello guyz, after 0.8.7b install, when I right click on an shortcut on the real desktop which points to an app that is installed on a custom sandbox ( not defaultbox, and has enhanced security with droped+fake admin rights) and choose run sandoxed, sandman errors out and the app does not start. Anyone with the same problem?

    Much appreciated! So, PLUS has its own sandboxie-plus.ini and no sandboxie.ini as in classic?
    I do not have PLUS installed. Btw, PanicKey is an appropriate moniker for this hotkey, ha ha.

    Plus has the same Sandboxie.ini as Classic and Sandboxie-Plus.ini
    Plus users may run Plus UI or Classic UI.

    Can you please add the ability when right-clicking on a sandbox to terminate just that sandbox? Better still all the options available in Classic.

    Plus UI has right-click on a sandbox to terminate, just that sandbox.

    So, If I were to use the classic v55.50.7,
    would the hotkey sequence work if I add
    the following two lines to sandboxie.ini:
    Code:
    PanicKeyEnabled=true
    PanicKeySequence=Ctrl+Cancel

    Sure looks that way! Thanks for taking the time to check.
    Back to good old WinHotKey for me (until I switch to Plus).

    Hi soccerfan. You could also create shortcuts for terminating all programs in all sandboxes or in an specific sandbox. You can leave the shortcut in the desktop or move it to the taskbar. I never being good at using hotkeys so this type of shortcut works better for me. I use the one for terminating all programs running in all sandboxes. I have it in the taskbar, were it works with one click and is out of the way (in the desktop it needs to be double clicked)

    I find the shortcut very handy and have used it for many years. I dont think of it as a panic button as malware never seems to run during all this years using Sandboxie and NoScript but if something freezes in a sandbox, it works perfect.

    This are the paths. The one in the bottom is the one for specific sandboxes. Make sure to change the name of the sandbox. In the example below, the shortcut terminates programs running in a sandbox named Foxit.

    "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /terminate_all
    "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /box:Foxit /terminate

    Bo, I use those but am also looking at scenarios where malware could "take over" the mouse.
    This topic was discussed at length years ago in tzuk's sandboxie forum where he decided
    not to implement a global hotkey. Some (myself included) ended up using WinHotKey for this.
    It has worked well on my machines (XP, Win7 and Win10) but it has not been a native option
    in sandboxie until David's latest Plus version released a few days ago.

    I don't remember the thread but I agree with tzuk, specially so if people posting in that thread were using the word panic to describe the key. Tzuk was an smart guy, he probably realized that if there was a thing called panic button, that would imply the need to use it. It would imply that Sandboxie was not as strong as we know it is. Having something called panic button probably would not have been a good selling point. Is likely that it would have created doubt about Sandboxie's effectiveness against malware (if the key is available....the reason for that is because malware running in the sandbox can take over the system....often. And that has never been so nor even close).

    Sure, we know malware running sandboxed can take over the mouse, but how often does that happens? I never seen anything like that, in fact, I never seen anything that acts like malware since the day I started using SBIE. You have been using SBIE even longer than I, I doubt you ever experienced malware running sandboxed taking over your mouse. Tzuk was right.

    Hi,
    Yesterday I've discovered by accident another edge case that seems to slip from sandboxie. Let's say that you have and xlsx file (in my case it was an "infected" xlsx file) that you copy manually under an sandox, let's say "d:\Sandbox\Me\DefaultBoxNoInternet\drive\D\87482.xlsx". And after this, if you acces the file from a normal, unsandboxed explorer instance, by right click-ing on the file and choosing "Open with" than very important "Choose another", and select to open the file with it's associated app, that app will open unsandboxed although the file should open sandboxed. It seems that only when "Open with - choose another" is used the file is not caught by sandboxie process, if I use "open with - LibreOffice Calc" it will open sandboxed. Tried it with other file types like pdf and the same behaviour applies, when opening using right click "Open with - choose another" is used, the file will start unsandboxed.

    0.8.8b installed with no problems and seems fine at first sight with Firefox 90 (stable release version)

    Thanks for the upgrade again. On a side-note though I have to say that I'm not really impressed by the new tray-icon. The empty version now looks somehow "filled up" - while, even worse, the full version is hardly distinguishable with those red dots nearly invisible in that tiny tray-icon.

    I'd suggest that the empty form either is filled with light grey with the full form being filled with bright orange or - if you'd like to keep the empty form - that the full form gets filled with a much darker color overlapped by max-bright light-red or light-yellow dots for enhanced contrast.

    Just my 2 cents.

    I tried thousands of malwares when coding Buster Sandbox Analyzer and indeed I found several that took over the system.

    If you analyze in automatic mode and you meet one of these malwares, BSA call the command to terminate processes when analysis time finishes and then control can be recovered. If you analyze in manual mode you can only push the reset button.

    I consider a global hotkey combination to terminate all processes a good idea but calling it "panic button" is just overkill. It's simply a shortcut to do something that already exists.

    I haven't read all of the posts, so perhaps I'm misunderstanding but are you saying that they could bypass Sandboxie?

    I was meaning the malwares would not allow you to control mouse & keyboard but yes, I also found malwares that bypassed Sandboxie. I sent them to Ronen and he fixed the leaks.
